DAWN News: UN appeal of $537m for areas hit by militancy

    Wednesday, 10 Feb, 2010
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

This is another Rs. 45.465 billion, when I multiply 537 with exchange rate of 85.

This war has been going on for what ? 8+ years ? This means, Pakistan has over Rs. 50 * 8 billion of loss just in terms of road in the last 8 years alone.

    Where is Pakistan headed ?

What is the future of our people ?

Unfortunate cost for fighting militancy - These areas need development - funds which should be provided by the West.

  3. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Pakistan can't afford to fight this war for foreigners, just on the basis of promises of payment, which has not come for years!

8 years is good enough time, to come out of being a fool, right ? Or is it expecting too much from Pakistani people who love this illegal, this immoral war ?

During 80's when bomb blasts in pakistan started, Wali khan said a beautiful sentence.

"When u send arsnels to afghanistan , then don't expect roses from there"

The ultimate "Fasad of Afghanistan of 80's" and their sponsors & beneficiaries are responsbile for this fate of pakistani masses. We need to root out all remmants of Afghan Fasad of 80's.

Until then , unfortunately , pakistan masses will have to bear this cost.

  7. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

He was lying. Its classic, well known tactic of super powers to conduct bomb attacks in neighbouring states whenever they tried to occupy another state.

    This has not only happened in Pakistan, this has happened in other places where US went for occupation. Perhaps you'v forgotten;

    (1) Vietnam and Cambodia
    (2) etc etc

  8. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@khanseena1: Your argument is based on a fallacy. There is no evidence to prove any of that which you say, which is what you hear from Govt. + Army + Govt. twisted or Army twisted/sponsored mass media.

Your claim is therefore baseless. It stands only on confusion, rather than on fact.

DAWN News: Pakistan Ordnance Factories facing financial crisis

    Thursday, 04 Mar, 2010
    --------------------------------------------------------
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), the largest defence-industrial complex in the public sector, is facing a severe financial crisis, forcing it to cancel orders worth $500 million.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

    So, financial crisis is continuing.

    I wonder how long Pakistani people will choose criminals to;

    (a) represent them ?
    (b) govern over them ?
    (c) play with their money ?
    (d) play with their lives ?
    (e) play with this nation's sovereignty ?

    Harris Bahi ,

U mean that no arsnel was being sent to Afghanistan from Pakistan during 80's ??? What a joke.

I leave it to members to decide that who was lying or who is lying .

DAWN News: Pakistan to pay $78 mn for 30 year old frigate

USS McInerney is expected to sail for Karachi by the end of this year as Pakistan continues to negotiate for five more frigates.—File photo

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will be paying the United States atleast $78 million to acquire a 30 year old Oliver Perry class frigate.

The first 30 year old frigate is expected to sail for Karachi by the end of this year as Pakistan continues to negotiate for acquiring five more Oliver Perry class frigates from the US.

Sources in Pakistan Navy told DawnNews that the 30 year old frigate, USS McInerney, was put on the US Navy’s inactivation list September last year. It will fly the Pakistani flag after retirement in September this year.

Pakistani sources said that frigate is a gift from US and will fly Pakistani flag as cost-efficient “hot-transfer” but US Defence Security Department in a notification to Congress said the frigate and its associated equipment, parts and logistical support will be worth atleast $78 millions.

This transfer would be done through the US International Programs Office and its foreign military sales department.

Once transferred to Pakistan, the ship will also join Combined Task Force aimed at fighting sea pirates in the troubled waters of the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.

USS McInerney’s onboard refurbishment includes anti-submarine missile defences, surface-to-surface missiles, other advance weaponry systems and with helicopter deck landing facilities.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

Pakistan is buying a 30 year old piece of junk in $78 million dollars, that is around Rs. 6,630,000,000 ?

    Has Pakistan gone mad ?
