Buses may be fine, but having dedicated Bus lanes is not the best idea. You need to enfore them and I don't see how we can effectively do that.

It works in london because they have CCTV everywhere and if you drive in a bus lane, you will get a ticket sent via the post within 10 days. Really need to think about enforcing this in pakistan, otherwise they will get abused.

you are right but you are missing one point, some UK bus lanes are also time-operational, after peak times they are open to public for normal traffic.

who would have thought that Pakistanis would follow the traffic rules ? but motorway and new highway polic made it possible. Now most of us obey motorway rules and it is very safe. Regarding bus lane enforcement, I think when people will start getting penalties by driving in Bus lane, next time they won't to do..

U.K people are also like us, they never obeyed Bus Lane rule from very first day .. its normal human learning process..

everything has to go thorough the motions..

most UK bus lanes (at least in london) are time operational. But it is during that time where they are restricted that they need to be monitored.

I'm not saying its a bad idea, but if not thought about properly it can turn into a bad implementation.

Also, the effect on cars etc also need to be considered.

Tony blair famously introduced a bus lane on the M4 motorway, and that had to be reversed in 2011 because of traffic issues.

Just going to Turkey and saying we get buses and have dedicated lanes is not good enough, unless a proper study and feasibility has been done.

yes right, I think they have taken everything in account. I visited lahore about 1 week ago and I was really happy with the flow of traffic compared to 5 years agoo..

espcially Thokar Niaz baig , Air port road, Bund road, link road etc.. the traffic flows like a charm
, except few exceptions where Road works continues.

So I guess they must have considered prons and cons of Bus lanes.

Lets hope for the good.

Pakstar bahi,

It was misspelled in your last post which i think u have correct now .It was written as 'Bundar'.

Anyhow , my home is on main band road about 1 km from daroghawala and if u r telling me that its in excellent shape , it was not till august . It was totally ruined , normal traffic can't flow over there and we have to go from narrow streets to avoid band road. And this state of road is for last 5/6 years.

Even till 2 weeks ago , the road is not carpeted, its under construction.

Despite being an underdeveloped country, Turkey is a very disciplined country. Our politicians must learn discipline from Turks and implement the same in our country.

Very right. So , the band road from daroghawala to mehmood boti interchange is totally un-commutable . Rest of band road is now part of ring road.

The Punjab government has spent around 40 per cent of its development budget for the year ending June 30 in Lahore leaving very little for the rest of the 35 districts in Punjab

In 2009, 60 per cent of a total development budget of Rs150 billion was spent in Lahore. To top that, the government has set aside Rs21 billion for block allocation – funds set aside for an unspecified project and can be spent anywhere after the chief minister’s approval. Please understand the difference between reporter's story, department's report and court's verdict. Reporters story is most weak evidence or proof which you can refer in logical argument.

I don't understand why we don't appreciate good deeds of others, aren't danish school, IT labs, Anti-**** Spray, Flood support, Sasti Rooti, Free Laptops etc are/were throughout Punjab.. ? BE Fair please !

Also, please DO NOT forget Lahore is 2nd LARGEST City of Pakistan, so fairly Lahore's share would be more than other ciites of Punjab, but it does not mean that other cities are being neglected.

Youtube videos of Shahbaz Sharif you will find him to and fro throughout Punjab in many cities.

Baychara Shahbaz Sharif subah 7 bajay say kaam shoro kerta ha aur raat 11-12 bajay tak.. check facebook pages of shahbaz sharif and nawaz sharif her.. roaz they are doing something.. they are not like others just doing Jalsas with mouthful of allegations and nothing productive.

I don't want to count here work of Shahbaz Sharif in Punjab, I think every one with little current affairs knowledge knows everything.
