"Security forces opened fire, they used bombs and live ammunition," he told Al Jazeera. "There are many injuries, including women and children." Aljazeera.

One of the doctors who went there to help the injured got
    shot and killed.

This is just one of the events happening in the muslim world where the govt is cracking down on its own ppl and killing them left right center.

what is the muslim worlds response. Is it ok for muslims to kill muslims but we make a huge deal when some kaafir kills muslims etc...

Our lack of response only gives enemies of Islam and hate mongers another chance to blame muslims and our religion specifically as we are seen complacent and injust.

  2. So should we ask the West to come bomb Syria now????

BTW: Israel bombed Gaza today and at least killed 8 Palestinians too. Think America would take action and declare a no-fly zone?

    I fully agree with you!!

These autocratic rulers all over the Arab world are the main reason for the uprising in their respective countries. These rulers have been ruling for too long and now in this Internet age general public want free and fair election as well as end to inherited system of transfer of power.

Now their time is up and public want their voices to be heard in Parliaments. They do not want anymore Crown Prince to become their next leader.

    Inqilab Zindabad is their slogan.

  4. Why Muslim countries do not raise their voices against atrocities committed by security forces on their own public?

Why Muslim countries did not attack Serbia when their rulers committed terrible massacre/atrocities on Majority Muslim Bosnian people?

Why didn’t we object USA when they bombed Majority Christian Serbian capital cities during Clinton Govt?

Why are we objecting USA now for their bombing to Libya?

Hypocrisy is the word which comes to my mind to describe our pathetic mentality.

@nota can you reason with yoru statements?

is one wrong a justification for another? unless you have trouble understanding the english language, i will explain my post.

My question is why is the muslim world silent when muslims murder muslims, as opposed to only burn the world down when the non muslims do it? I dont think i implied anywhere that it was ok for the west to bomb us, but i am challenging the muslims to their actions and intensions.

  7. @ Kulla

its not muslims killing muslims as some might view it and its not that we are silent on muslims killed by muslim rulers

Its so called Muslim rulers killing muslim population and the west is actually the hand in Gloves as the west is the one who has installed these dictators and supporting them. Tell me a single muslim ruler who was genuinely elected by the masses and killing its own people like these usurpers.

@FJ agreed that its the ruler.. but whether its a ruler.. its still a person/group of ppl who are doing this. Why is the muslim world in general not giving out the same reaction vs when something similar is done by the west.

it beats me why we keep silent on such events as this gives a negative image of us as an ummah that we are not for justice rather against the west. Muslims are supposed to be JUST and need to voice concerns and protest with the same intensity whenever injustice occurs regardless of who does it.

Show me one protest held in pakistan against Gaddafi or Syria or Yemen or Bahrain?

Very good point raised by you "Show me one protest held in pakistan against Gaddafi or Syria or Yemen or Bahrain?"

This verifies we do not care if Muslims are killed by fellow Muslims but we do if Christians/Jews/Hindus kill Muslims.

    Double standards at its height!!

@truthlover find a post on this forum where i supported lal masjid operation. I am against all injustice whether its muslims or non muslims. I am talking about our hypocracy when it comes to our own actions.

We must be unbiased and Just when it comes to opression. As muslims that is who we are. If we care not consistent with our actions then our intensions become a question mark for integrity.

We are a muslim ummah, and we must feel the same pain whether its kashmire, afghanistan, iraq, pakistan, palistine ..or any of the arab states. If there is agression against the muslims we must send a consistent message that we do not support such action.

    Kulla, Well said.

We all need to know more about Syria and its power structure.

It is more or less same story across the Muslim lands that were colonized after the dismemberment of Ottoman Caliphate in 1923. It was one of the Arab countries that was carved out of Ottoman Caliphate and was taken over by French colonialists. The French colonialists did the same like the Britishers did in sub continenet. They encouraged and patronized minorities like Alawites and gave them top positions in higher echelons of political and military leadership. The Alawites( like Qadianis) are dubbed Kafirs even by mainstream Shia clergy as they elevate nauzubillah Ali RA to the level of Allah SBT. They could not rule as Alawites and hence assumed a clandestine role by aligning with Baath party. The father of present tyrant- Hafez Al Assad publicly declared in famous Omayyad Masjid in Damascus that he is a sunni Muslim. It was a ploy to fool the masses. Baath party itself was founded by Michael Aflaq, a Christian Arab and promotes extreme Arab nationalism. The other tyrant Saddam also belonged to Baath party. They consider Prophet SAS as an Arab leader and nothing more. Both Syrian and Iraq were ruled by this nationalistic party and had some differences. These tyrants took out Salauddin ayoubi from school text books saying he was not an "Arab". We all know that Salauddin ayoubi was of Kurdish origin.

Similar protests were mercilessly crushed by Baathists in Syria in 80's when the entire city of Hama was obliterated killing at least 10,000 civilians. One important point to be noted is that the Iranian regime is fully aligned with this tyrant in Syria. They never protested the brutal suppression by the Baathist thug although he has same ideology like Saddam. They are supporting Bahrain opposition but not Syria. The policies of the so called Islamic Republic of Iran are biased and hyprocritical.

The Israeli withdrawal of Golan Heights was another ploy by Zionists to make a Arab hero out of Assad. Same with Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon where Hezbollah was made a hero. They are all is league with Zionists.

Also let us see the track record of West. They occupied, bombed Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and of course Pakistan. Most of these are overwheling Sunni countries. Inspite of constant propoganda that Iran is axis of evil, they never bombed or will ever bomb Iran. They have high hoped from Iran to be on their side. No wonder Iran facilitated occcupation of Iraq and Afghanistan to chnage the balance of power.

Syria is an opposite case to Bahrain where shia majority is ruled by Sunni king while Syrian Sunni majority is ruled by minority shia Alawites.?

Things are getting hot in Syria too. Many people are killed in a tribe based society.

    - Does it mean a long battle between the rulers and the opposition?
    - Time for a change?
    - and will US also be successful in meddling in Syrian affairs too?

    @ kulla,

Don't misunderstand me my friend, I never accused you of anything. All I intended was to convey that injustices and attrocities are so common in Muslim countries that no one can keep the record. These happen in those Muslim countries that oppose the west but even more so among the so called Western friendly Muslim nations. Of course we all should condemn such things regardless of where they occur. But the west should never be allowed to sell their humanity to us, simply because they are the most hypocrite nations in the world.

@truth, i think we are saying the same thing, however i am insisting that muslim countries need to play a greater role in condemning such acts when it happens in our own backyard. If the muslim countries were honestly against opression, we could have solved our own problems and not invited teh west to bomb us like in libya. Why doesnt the arab league or OIC call emeregency conferences and send a stark message to these countries, call their ebmassadors and ask for explanations as to why they are killing muslims/protestors.... even threaten economic boycott or if incase of libya we should have send a v strong signal.

We have become prone to injustice happening inside muslim countries at teh hands of muslim rulers because of fear of losing support from these oil rich countries.

    @ Kulla,
Not long ago you thought me to be naive and yet are missing the point. OIC is not an organisation created to take care of Islamic world but is a body there to do as much harm to Muslim countries as much it is possible. The arab league and OIC are hostage in the hands of rich Arab states, whose leaders have sold Muslims to their invisible masters, to whom we vaguely call zionists.
I agree though that we need to condemn all kind of evil acts committed in the Islamic countries, but also be on our guard against our enemies, who make propoganda against us on all levels. A true Muslim shouldn't be afraid of any one but God Almighty. The day we start remembering this truth, we shall stop taking the side of wrong doers and Evil ones!

@truth, perhaps OIC hasnt been doing anything at all but its logical to use it as its the only platform we have. arab league true is only for the arabs and their interest but thats not the point, the point is using means to register our concerns and protest... calling ambassodors back etc there are a number of different diplomatic means.

If we cant even agree that our rulers are doing what is right for us then how can you blame the west for your own ills? to your point then we should start protesting against our own regimes first before we go outside.

My point was both on goverment level and individual level. We are fast to get out on teh streets to condem the zionists aand the west when something happens in kashmire or palestine, yet remain quiet when the same opression happens by our own muslims.

Resident: Troops Open Fire in Syrian City, Daraa
    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Published: March 25, 2011

DARAA, Syria (AP) — Syrian troops opened fire on protesters in the restive southern city of Daraa on Friday, shooting crowds that set fire to a bronze statue of the country's late president, a resident told The Associated Press.

The resident, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, said heavy gunfire could be heard in the city center and witnesses had reported several casualties.

An activist in Damascus in touch with eyewitnesses in the village of Sanamein, near Daraa, said troops there opened fire on demonstrators trying to march to Daraa. He said there had been witness reports of fatalities, some claiming as many as 20 slain, but those could not be independently confirmed.

Tens of thousands of Syrians were taking to the streets across the country in the most widespread civil unrest in years, defying crowds of government backers and baton-wielding security forces to shout their support of the uprising in Daraa, according to witnesses, activists and footage posted online.

Thousands flooded Daraa's central Assad Square, many from nearby villages, chanting "Freedom! Freedom!" and waving Syrian flags and olive branches, a resident told The Associated Press by telephone.

Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, he claimed that more than 50,000 people were shouting slogans decrying presidential adviser Buthaina Shaaban, who promised Thursday that the government would consider a series of reforms in response to a week of unrest in Daraa.

A human rights activist, quoting witnesses, said thousands of people gathered in the town of Douma outside the capital, Damascus, pledging support for the people of Daraa. The activists asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution.

Security forces dispersed the crowd by chasing them away, beating some with batons and detaining others, an activist said, asking that his name not be published for fear of reprisals by the government.

The capital, Damascus, was tense, with convoys of young Syrians roaming the streets in their cars, honking incessantly and waving out pictures of President Bashar Assad and Syrian flags. The convoys briefly blocked streets in some areas.

Outside Damascus' famous Ummayad Mosque, scores of people gathered, chanting pro-Assad slogans when a small group of people began shouting opposing slogans in support of the Daraa martyrs. Police dispersed the protesters peacefully.

Also in Damascus, about 200 people demonstrated after the Friday prayers at the Thawra Bridge, near the central Marjeh Square, chanting "our souls, our blood we sacrifice for you Daraa," and "freedom, freedom." They were chased by security forces who beat them some of them with batons and detained others, an activist said on condition of anonymity for fear of government reprisals.

In the city of Aleppo, hundreds of worshippers came out of mosques shouting "with our lives, our souls, we sacrifice for you Bashar" and "Only God, Syria and Bashar!"

Residents in the northern city of Homs said hundreds of people demonstrated in support of Daraa and demanded reforms.

The activist said that in the coastal city of Latakia, more than 1,000 people marched in the streets after Friday prayers. In the northern city of Raqqa, scores marched and several people were detained, he said.

And in the western city of Zabadani, near the border with Lebanon, several people were detained after protesting, he said.

Journalists who tried to enter Daraa's Old City — where most of the violence took place — were escorted out of town Friday by two security vehicles.

"As you can see, everything is back to normal and it is over," an army major, standing in front of the ruling Baath party head office in Daraa, told journalists before they were led out of the city.

Security forces appeared to be trying to reduce tension in Daraa by dismantling checkpoints and ensuring there was no visible army presence on the streets for the first time since last Friday, when the protests began.

Rattled by the unrest, the Syrian government Thursday pledged to consider lifting some of the Mideast's most repressive laws in an attempt to stop the weeklong uprising from spreading and threatening its nearly 50-year rule.

But the promises were immediately rejected by many activists who called for demonstrations around the country on Friday in response to a crackdown that protesters say killed dozens of anti-government marchers in Daraa.

"We will not forget the martyrs of Daraa," a resident told The Associated Press by telephone. "If they think this will silence us they are wrong."

Assad, a close ally of Iran and its regional proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas, has promised increased freedoms for discontented citizens and increased pay and benefits for state workers — a familiar package of incentives offered by other nervous Arab regimes in recent weeks.

Shaaban, the presidential adviser, also said the Baath party would study ending a state of emergency that it put in place after taking power in 1963.

The emergency laws, which have been a feature of many Arab countries, allow people to be arrested without warrants and imprisoned without trial. Human rights groups say violations of other basic liberties are rife in Syria, with torture and abuse common in police stations, detention centers and prisons, and dissenters regularly imprisoned for years without due process.

The death toll from the weeklong crackdown was unclear and could not be independently confirmed. Shaaban says 34 people had been killed in the conflict.

Iranis once tried to take practical actions against the USA. They developed small gunboats with machine guns fitted to spray bullets. They once sprayed bullets over the American Naval Ships. In retaliation, America shot down one of their passenger planes. The Iranian came out in the open sea to avenge the loss of their passenger plane, but the US navy easily destroyed 2-3 of their warships and forced them to retreat.
