  1. Taliban reject London conference
    Friday, January 29, 2010

    By our correspondent

PESHAWAR: Terming the London conference as far removed from the ground realities in Afghanistan, the Taliban central leadership on Thursday argued that the US and its allies should have freed all prisoners from jails in Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere, removed the names of all Taliban members from the UN ‘blacklist’ and refrained from sending more troops if they really meant to take the proper steps for ending the Afghan conflict.

The long statement by the Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pashto was sent to media organisations. Its English translation also became available later on the Taliban website. It said those jailed should not have been kept in prisons for so many years against all principles and in violation of human rights.

The statement argued that the ‘Mujahideen’ were not fighting for money or to grab power. Describing as baseless that most Taliban fighters were not ideologically committed, it claimed that nobody compelled the ‘Mujahideen’ to take up arms and fight the invaders.

“Had the aim of the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate been obtainment of material goals, they would have accepted dominance of the invaders in the first place and would have supported them. Everything was in their hand — comfortable life, money and power.

“But the Islamic Emirate will never trade on the matter of faith, conscience, soil and the homeland for material benefits or be coerced and tempted as a result of intimidation and personal privileges. Such wicked game doesn’t fit into the history of the honour-loving people of Afghanistan,” the statement stressed.

  3. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    Excellent!!! move by Taliban.

US, UK, their allies were conducting yet another charade. Plus they wanted to give India a lead role in geopolitics of this region.

  4. Muslim countries contain some of the most corrupt people on God's earth, along with others spectacular as regards honesty. The Taliban are a case in point.

As for the London conference, like the Copenhagen climate nonsense or 9/11 and other fictons, etc., it's nothing but a face-saving scam. The Afghan resistance has won its war. Thank you God! Rejoice, man, rejoice!

Of course secretary defense visited with elaborated plan and first brought indian side on board and then brough gen kiani on board. After conspiring with all the stake holders he winked to his junior -stanley mccrystal- who started waving the 'truce' flag.

It is like good cop bad cop game to break the person's will, they want to try the good cop role to see if any cracks appear...

  6. BTW: Iran was one country that did not take part in the London show and scam.

  7. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

ALL! Muslim nations should have rejected this meeting. ALL of them should have geared up for a regional conference instead.

It would have set the REAL precedent -> WE! the people of this region are in power in our land, we! decide, NOT! you!, the west.

It would have been impossible to invade Iraq or Afghanistan without tacit support of Iran!

Reason for not participating is because of non-existent diplomatic channel between US & Iran, of course they only work through track 2 channels.

But remember the Iranian role in the invasions of Iraq & Afghanistan, just like Pak back stabbed Afghanistan, Iran back stabbed both Iraq & Afghanistan.

  9. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@Salam: What in the name of ALLAH ? Are you saying the current regime in Iran purposefully did this ?

What did they have to get out of it ?

  11. RE IRAN, the most constantly threatened country in today's annals. They have never collaborated with the West as implied above. They have always acted to further the cause of Islam, seeing to it at the same time that they didn't get a few bombs on their heads as well. Which would have served no purpose, apart from raising the casualty figures among Muslims even further.

Also, I don't understand why everyone is shaking in their boots about non-country India, at a time when it's so clear the Umma is on the rise. It should be the other way round. India should be doing the trembling and shaking, and so it does.

  12. Bitter irony in what you say, LetsDoIt, bitter irony. But as we all know, we are too backward even to realise what "civilization and insaniat" mean. For that one must be fair of skin, blue-eyed and at least six-feet tall.

Iran is not a threatening country at all, appearances are deceptive my dear. If I go into details of Iranian collaboration on Iraq & Afghan invasion then your thread might get derailed, so let us keep this for some other time where I can try to explain how we establish this from ground reality -forget the rhetorical slogans, look at their actions.

Taliban comprise of most brutal, illiterate and uncivilized people on God’s earth. After the American supported Jihad in Afghanistan, they forcefully occupied the land in Afghanistan. When thrashed by Americans they ran fast towards Pakistan to save their lives and started their brutal activities here. Like in Afghanistan, they started grabbing the land here on gunpoint and unleashed their barbaric atrocities on innocent people of Pakistan. They were told to live peacefully but they took it as the weakness of government of Pakistan and declared rebellion. As they did not understood the messages of words, government of Pakistan was left with no other alternative then to tell them in the language they understand.

This shows that Taliban do not believe in dialogue. It is proved yet again that they don’t believe in talks when they rejected to take part in the conference. They are doomed to be the losers on all the fronts.

Thanks NNL, Iranian role needs to be thoroughly scrutinized in context of not only Iraq/Afghan invasions but also in Yemen conflict. Their tacit involvement in Yemen is also another dimension to Iranian role in this global war against Muslims.

Well, we better leave it for some other time since this thread is related with London Conference and not Iran.

  19. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

Since we are discussing Afghanistan, US/Nato's war in Afghanistan, comments relevant to Iran's envolvment in this is also relevant to this thread.

What can Iran have done, especially since Pakistan was ready to help US start and fight war in Afghanistan ?

Pakistan under Musharraf, Zardari gave US full access to Pakistan, which continues even today, not only for its military supplies to Afghanistan, but for more!. How could Iran have influenced this situation ?

  20. Good man, hariskhan, asking the pertinent questions about Pak guilt in Afghanistan as versus Iranian involvement. The way I see it, we have the anti-Taliban wing on this blog, followed by the anti-Pakistan wing and now the anti-Iran wing is adjusting its disguise before putting in an appearance. At this rate, we'll have read them all before we're much older. The only thing which will continue to be missing are any anti-West sentiments.

  21. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

OIC is dead. So is our collective state. Muslims need to revive their institutions in order to assert their presence outside their borders.

Pakistan can play role in terms of asking Taliban because most of them are Pashtuns and we have many links with Pashtun population but on the other hand Iran can also create its influence because almost all language spoken in Afghanistan are influenced by Persian so here Pakistan and Iran need collective efforts to get things under control in Afghanistan and make sure of safe departure of NATO forces because no one want NATO to stay in Afghanistan...
