i agree with your analysis.
one day they say that there is a threat, and the other day they say that the threat has been neutralized. the reality is that the Americans control our nuclear arsenal.

They were also predicting balkanization of Pakistan within SIX months!

Btw , what these nukes have delieved to masses ?
Got them out of poverty ? Gave their children clean drinking water ? Education ? Health ?
But these nukes have given BRAVE ARMY , dha , Fauji Foundation and all other stuff so the BRAVE ARMY is largest industrial group , land owner , real estate owner in your pakistan , in my pakistan , in our children's pakistan.

Why do you think Indians went to the White House to resolve Kargil?
It was cuz Pakistan possessed nuclear weapons. They mobilized their Army after the attack on Indian parliament but didn't have the courage to invade Pakistan.
- Why?

AsifK, you are confusing two things. poverty, drinking water, education and health are separate from having a nuclear arsenal.
you are right that the government didnt provide all these facilities, and we should account the government for it. but a nuclear arsenal serves another very important purpose.
and our nuclear arsenal in the hands of US should not be acceptable to us.

this news piece
and Khan of Kalat statement at todays DAWN front page.one can easily do two plus two...
our enemies are after us to break us apart .
take the hold of our nuclear arms .....and our Govt is busy making tall n false claims about its success.

I think the baluchistan issue is actually a war of ego between baloch sardars who want to keep sardari system and the military who don't want to give them sardari system.
Civilian government can't do much, there is military vs baloch sardars problem

@JJ Khan
I don't think that you've ever been to Baluchistan otherwise you would not have over-simplified Balochistan issue !
BTW there is no Sardari System in Makran belt which includes Ormara, Pasni, Gwadar !!!!Posted 2 years ago on 12 Aug 2009 11:56 # -
An indian newspaper quoting a little known british "expert" saying that terrorists attacked Pakistan's nuclear sites. That proves it is a fact !!!!
Blah ... Blah .... Blah
And today is not even April 01.
I think we should do something better than discussing such ridiculous stories.

I m not confusing 2 issues. My point is very simple.
WE have been wasting our national exchequer on defence for last 62 years and have failed miserably.
Had this money been spent on the Human Development , the masses would have been in a lot better position.
Right now , we spent some 80% of budget on defence and debt servicing. Why Debt Servicing . Becaz 20-30 years ago , we borrowed to buy F-16's or to buy tanks or to buy submarines or to build DHA. So , this debt servicing is also defence expenditure.
If u dont' believe , just pick pakistan budget of early 80's and see how much we were spending on defence on how much debt servicing. Gradully , the defence has become debt servicing.
My whole point is instead of wasting money in this useless exerciese, we can help our massess. U see, this BRAVE ARMY is only good in capturing Islamabad. In real , they are even worse than heejaras. 91000 tu heejray hooon to woh taaali baja bajaa kar pagal kar deetay haain, yeh surrender kar kaay aa gaey thay :)

yes, i agree but my point is that this does not mean that we shouldn't be spending on defense. what you are saying is correct in its own right; money should have been spent on development for the benefit of the masses but spending on defense is an equally important thing to do.
