The issue of Timeliness

Let me indulge in what I can best describe as wishful thinking- a sort of WHAT If-. Where will Pakistan be today !

    Let us suppose-

    1. The members of the national assembly and the 4 provincial assemblies had not sold their votes for big bucks to let Zardaro get elected as President of Pakistan.

    2. What if Zardaro after getting elected President had restored the Judiciary the next day. He would not only have made himself look good but castrated PML-N and others.

    3. Gilani , before Zardaro's election had restored the CJP and others by a simple eecutive order. If he had done that-n Zardari would not have been elected President.

    4. Zardaro after getting elected had told the Americans to get out of Pakistan.

    5. Musharraf had been arrested at the airport and placed in jail waiting for trial for selling the country to the Americans.

    6. CJ Iftikhar the day after restoration had ruled the very next day on the NRO, the Missing Person's cases, ordered the arrest of all those that had gotten relief from NRO.

    7. What if the CJP had after disqualification of Jamshed Dasti banned him and anyone else with fake degrees from ever running for any office.

I could go on- but you get the point- I hope.

  2. they say"If wishes were horses, beggars would ride"

often in hopelessness, when ppl see no roads that could lead us to solutions nd happiness, all we can do is "wish if that wouldn't have happened"....thats a natural thought that comes to everyone's mind lol

  3. shimatoree, Pakistan is a marvellous country, one of the best in the world. But timeliness is not among its many virtues. And we're all suffering as a result.

I still see no reason to give up hope and think we'll never improve (general statement not directed at you). Yesterday I watched the Kal Tak programme which interviewed what one calls position holders in the recent Matric exams. Kids. To hear them talk about the future of Pakistan made the heart sing. Kids they may be, no fools them. They'll never accept a Zardari as head of their country, of that I'm sure.

As for our CJP, he'll get there. Even if he seems to have adopted a slow and steady wins the race kind of attitude. Patience is all we need now. And if we don't have it naturally, it's never too late to learn. But I must admit your "What if..." did make a feel a pang of great regret quickly mastered.

    Mirza Sahib

First on the TV program called " Kal Tak "-

Yes one can built one's hopes but to be realistic- I do not see much hope for those young kids inspite of their idealism and talents. Can you imagine one of those kids standing up against a well armed gangster for some abstract values such as honesty, and credibility ?

The purpose for writing this piece is that the opportunity to do REAL GOOD has always been there- but no one to do it.
I have what I call my " IMMORTALITY" test.

That is that life gives some of us( very few) an opportunity to rise to the occasion- and MOST prove that they are not upto the occasion.

Just lokk at Zardari- inspite of his past he had the opportunity to redeem himself- well he did not.

    Nawaz Shareef- DITO.

Musharraf- if anyone had the opportunity to really become immortal it was him.
Why he did not do it ?
Because he did not have it in him. He was always a fraudster- a corrupt man with no class who conned everyone as he went along in his life- including himself finally.
He was always a coward and gutless and he showed it everytime.

I know a little bit about horses- throughbreds.
Lots of thorughbreds have talent but very few have character.
The same is true of people.

Mirabeau, the French revolutionary said very well-

quote " Most men lack character "

" it has always been the MOMENT. Most leaders miss catching the moment or rising to the occasion .
The moment passes and everything is lost "

  5. Yes, ryhme says it well: if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Shimatoree how clearly you explained your immortality test. And how marvellously it has been failed time and time again in Pakistan. But think: What Mirabeau said applies to everyone we know or meet. People with character are as rare as seeing an angel in the sky. Hence the urgent need for some tolerance in the world. Great men (or women) are even rarer. BB could have been a great woman, her Dad a great man, they messed that up, too. And now we have the age of sheer mediocracy come upon us.

Then I think: cometh the moment, cometh the man. Allah Talha is our only solution there. I really see no other. Hence my firm belief in the Islamic Nizam. And that young Quran-e-Hafiz I saw on Kal Tak yesterday, and also the two young girls, both from the scientific section, filled me with hope. And pkpolitics also occasionally does that to me too. Gives me hope that all is not yet lost, although all the tests of timeliness and immortality have been failed so far. We'll get those well-armed gangsters in the end. All we need are nerves of steel.

I am afraid it is not only ‘the issue of timeline’ but also a matter of ‘luck’. Luck is where opportunity meets preparation. Everyone gets the opportunity to become lucky (but then again being ‘lucky’ is a relative term). Being ‘prepared’ to become ‘lucky’ has a lot to do with character building. None of those you mentioned has any sort of credible character.

Those you mentioned in your post were not ‘prepared’ to meet their opportunities

Respectfully I would beg to disagree.

No amount of preperation or planning or education can correct the fundamental CHARACTER FLAWS.

  8. Character loopholes as they are called once developed will stay with you till you deathbed.

You have every right to disagree but I guess I was not articulate enough to describe my point. By ‘preparation’ I don’t mean the preparation you get from normal education or grooming. It is the preparation you get in centuries. When you have ‘right’ genes and your blood is not polluted with the ‘haram’ earnings.

I believe that is why all the prophets and good leaders were born in families who had no money but values and respect.

somethings are meant to happen...everyone has his rise and fall...if they are lucky one todao to be on such prestigious places then that doesn't make them a better person...haven't you seen the end of some of the popular and most powerful leaders in history of da world....from Bhutto to Sadam Hussain to Zia to BB to Hitler etc etc...

We still dont know how the life of this thief Zardari is gonna end...hes a hero today for some...God's wrath takes only a moment to turn a Hero into Zero...just wait!
