India claims itself as secular state but majority of the Indians are not secular. Even many of the politicians and bureaucrats are not secular. Self proclaimed secular parties like Congress are also not really secular parties. Prison population of India also includes large number of people who belong to religious minority groups along with dalits and tribals. So called secular parties are interested in attracting minorities for votes but not intended to do justice for them. Long back, police arrested a gang in Hyderabad that commits robberies and murders for money. That gang had nothing to do with islamic fundamentalism but all the members of that gang were muslims. Police colored that gang as islamic terroristic gang and done propaganda that the gang targets only hindus for murders and robberies. Later, investigation bureau officers proved that the gang had nothing to do with islamic terrorism and that gang was just a professional criminal gang. Police did such propaganda for causing bad reputation on muslims. Cheap style propaganda against muslims is even continuing in other states. Officers of Ministry of Home Affairs are doing propaganda that Maoists and militants of north eastern states allied with ISI (intelligence wing of islamic fundamentalist state Pakistan). Some times, officers claim that they have evidences to prove it. That propaganda is done to cause bad reputation simultaneously on muslims, Maoists and north eastern states militants. Maoists are not so foolish to make alliance with islamic fundamentalist states like Pakistan. Pakistan is a virulent anti-communist state that allied with Anglo-American imperialists during cold war. Even north eastern states militants cannot make alliance with Pakistani ISI. Majority people in Assam, Manipur and Tripura are hindus. Hindu population in Tripura is even higher than many of the states ruled by hindu fundamentalist BJP. Fascist security forces even rape hindu tribal women those states. Though there are some christian militant groups in north east India, there is no evidence to prove that christian fundamentalist groups allied with islamic fundamentalists. Antagonism between Christian Empire America and Islamic Al-Qaeda is enough example to prove that christian fundamentalists are not in position to make alliance with islamic fundamentalists against other religions.
While Indian state bureaucrats are doing propaganda against specific religions, how can the state defend secularism? Fundamentalists are seen in all religions. Along with religious antagonism, racial antagonism and class antagonism are also seen. People of a religion can murder or rape people of their same religion who belong to same another race or social class. For example: Non-tribal hindu police murder and rape hindu tribes people in north eastern states. There are also cases of murdering or raping people of their own tribe by class antagonism. Rich gond tribesman Mahendra Karma is leading Salva Judum gang in Dandakaranya and even murdering and raping poor gond tribe people. Though Salva Judum is sponsored by hindu fundamentalist BJP and RSS, that gang is also supported by muslim business class people. Even in Bihar, muslim landlords said that they are ready to support Ranveer Sena gang that was organised by forward caste hindu landlords and supported by hindu fundamentalist BJP. Class antagonism is worse than any other antagonism. Ruling class parties like Congress talk more about religious antagonism for diverting minds of people from issues of class antagonism and other social problems. While there are many social problems other than religion and secularism, ruling class parties try to make religion and secularism as priority issues to convince people that other issues are non-priority issues or ignorable issues. These are characteristics of crude anti-progressivism of ruling class parties.
Some times, these anti-progressive politicians also understand that it is not possible to satisfy people by secular politics in all cases. For example: In cases of farmers suicides in Vidarbha and Punjab etc, they cannot divert minds of peasant class people in the name of secularism or religion. In such cases, they talk about actual priority issues for defending their vote bank.
