Right now there is a propaganda war going on between PPP/ANP and MQM.. and everyonelse is just enjoying etc. Character Assasinations sey ley ker.. making corrupt ppl saints and ideolizing them. 1947 per discussions, on points when we werent even born or were toddlers. Too many wannabe think tanks of the past.

Can we stop all of this and talk about the future, and how we can move ahead. @Bsobaid started a few threads.. but mostly i see ppl discussing the PAST.. which we pakistani's love to live in.

Lets stop this hate and uneducated and misinformed discussions, and stop using non authentic sources. Can we please discuss Kararchi's future course of action and how can we as a socity contribute to it? We need action groups, policy influencers for our Future, not good for nothing tajzia nigaars.

  2. Very good Kulla Bhai,

That is the point I am trying to make that we can not achieve anything by condemning our corrupt politicians. Nobody is saint in our politics. IS HIMAM MAY SABH HI .... HAIN.

We the common people should think ways and means of getting rid of them and make practical efforts in our own circles to motivate youth for better prospects in future.

What we need is to leave our political affiliations behind and start grassroots on the actual issues not on symptoms.

I think a good way would be for everyone to contribute what the grassroot issue is in Karachi, one by one and let come together to come up with solutions. Leave the political parties aside for a moment.

Here are in my opinion some of the problems Karachi faces

    1. Segregation of neighbourhoods with ethenicities
    2. Limited means of livelilood
    3. Unaffordable means of living leading to immoral and unethical practices
    4. A culture of bribes and lack of equal opportunities based on merited for the youth/general
    5. delayed or no justice at all
    6. Unequal distribution of wealth
    7. Education sector not focusing on importance of ethics, morals and Islamic values of etiquites, manners and social justice
    8. un equal distribution of power across the political spectrum
    9. Lack of sincere policy makers/influencers/ and action groups
    10. Incompetent local administration/corruption in the public sector/goverment etc

    Dear Kulla,
All these points have been the very foundation of MQM, just mentioning and hoping not to derail your thread or train of thought. Keep it coming, maybe you can find the magic stone.

unless some ignirants keep supporting terrorists and mafias, we can not move in future. We will live in same status quo and condition will never change. Only a few group leaders will promot from Honda 50 to landcruisers.

lets leave the political parties out of these because none of them have actually done anything, if they did, Karachi would have been a different place today.

What we need to dicuss is the actual action plan on how to address these issues.

The core issue i see and thats why i listed as number one is Segmentation. Rich,Poor, urdu speaking, Pathan, Sindi, Bengali, Punjabi, etc all have their own pocket neighbourhoods. This creates disintegration and further isolation of thoughts, believes, cultures etc from a social perspective.

We all seem to be more interested in bashing and complaining others and not really using this forum productively.

Deteriorating condition of Karachi = Deteriorating condition of Pakistan.

There has been an enormous influx of population from all over Pakistan in past decade, specially after war on terror.

Urban to rural population ratio have dramatically changed. It used to be 80-20 but I think now it is 60-40. Almost half of rural population have migrated to cities and we only have 2 cities in Pakistan i-e Karachi and Lahore.

This in itself is a big problem.
We need to develop more cities, such as Gwadar.

I agree, creating more urban centres to resolve points 2 and 3. Urbanization has to expand to non developed areas while not disturbing our rural settings and agriculture.

I think Gawader presents an excellent opportunity if all the public services including security is ensured.

    Mr. BSO
Your calculation is a bit of exaggeration. By 80-20 ratio, you mean 80% rural to 20% urban to a change of 60% rural to 40% urban, in reality than means only 25% of the rural population left for the cities doubling urban population. In simple words only a quarter not half left the rural areas to reside in the cities. But that is also an exaggeration according to following demographics graph:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Karachi_population.svg
According to the graph, we were touching 10-11 Million by at the fold of the century. If we keep the demographics on standstill with no births or deaths than you would be able to say that displaced people have made the population increase by 60% not a whopping 100% but that is not the case. Demographics has changed on many accounts of births, deaths and displacements.Just my two cents.

well whether its 60% or 40%, the issue is urban development. I think we are trying to solve grass root problems not deciding on ethenic ratios.

Lets focus on the issue not political or ethenic agendas.

    @Kulla

I agree whole heatedly with you brother. We are only good when it comes to fight our own people, be it based on race, language or sect.

Agreeing to the topic I would say that I tried to visit some Indian blog as well (I may not have explored properly) but those guys behave entirely differently.

We need to move forward creating some sense of the need to get our people educated. We need to instill the appreciation of research and technology in our people and we need to pull them out of this hatred based intellect.

    Community... city.... Country

    -Community base police system...
(SHO of Lyari must be living with family in Lyari)

    - MNA and MPAs must be resident of locality...imagine if my MNAs is living actually in my area not in DHA or Gulberg.

    - Community base Judicial system where small cases like property issues, family issues can be handle locally but monitor by qualified judges not by some zamindar.
Best place for such Khachari is jama masjid after every Friday prayer.

    - Strong local government with less influence of Fed and provisional government... need to pass at least property tax (building and motor vehicles taxes) to local government.

-Need to set up more industrial cities like lal musa and sialkot and Hub ( Small cities with small home base industries)

    - Community school, community ka college... pher shaer ke university only by merit not by domicile.

The real solution to move forward is seperate Urban Sindh province,

but Sindh Qaum Parast will never let it happen. there are growing calls for a new province in streets of Karachi through chalkings across the city.

i agree with this mindset, this is the ultimate solution. it does not have anything to do with ethnicity or race, it is just an easier way to govern Urban Sindh with new province with police system restructured

It is impossible in the presence of people like Irshad that a single beneficial thread can exist without referencing ethnicity.
