I have lived there in past and had firm belief that the pace which they have picked to build their economy is not on strong bases. It was certainly like a balloon which they were inflating day and night. You should know that construction can not be the only sector of an economy to progress. Unlike Abu Dhabi, the emirates of Dubai has no sufficient oil production to support the budgets. Every thing was based on loans. So this was due to happen. I was reading the economic surveys the other day and experts fear that situation is not going to improve in near future. While thousands of people have already lost their jobs and returned back to their home countries.

I work in Dubai and my field is Finance.

Dubai is a part of UAE which consists of six other Emirates. Abu Dhabi is the largest emirate and is the capital of UAE. Abu Dhabi generates most of its income from Oil and its investment authority (ADIA) has the largest pool of sovereign funds in the world (amounting to USD 600 Billions +). That means Abu Dhabi just using one of its funds can pay off the entire debt of Pakistan 40 times!

As for Dubai. Yes its sinking and the worst is yet to come. A lot of job losses are still on the cards especially with the restructing of its biggest firm 'Dubai World'. However, with Abu Dhabi's (or Abu of Dubai as they call it nowadays) hand on its head, this recession wont last forever and recovery will be seen in the next 2-3 years.

Cash is King and UAE as a country has enough of it!

  5. i have been to Dubai in April this year for some workshop on advertising, and has found deserted look of shopping malls .
there were shoppers but lesser as compare to we usually see there ,there were queues at the shopping mall exit for cab ,
    but smaller ones ...

i am thinking ,its a bad thing for ppl who live there .
but a good shock for those filthy rich political leaders ,who have invested our tax money in big business ventures there....

how do you know that the politicians invested money in Dubai ?
Most of the Pakistan investors in Dubai are business men who have been doing real estate business in Pakistan .

Dragging Pakistani politicians in Dubai issue is not fair

    @ netenger,

Pakistani politicians did invest a lot of money in Dubai. Especially Shaukat Aziz, Nawaz Sharif, Zardari and Ishaq Dar.

Zardari's API Tower right next to Defence Roudabaout in Dubai is a tall example of the corruption of Pakistani politicians. Another Zardari money laundering example would be Dubai Pearl Project in which he heavily invested.

Ironically, both Nawaz Sharif and Zardari have AED30M+ mansions at Emirates Hills where they reside when in UAE.

  15. * Leaders and Politicians of Pakistan managed to siphon over 150 billions (Dollars ?).
    * Beneficiaries of NRO managed to legalize over 125 billion (Dollars ?)
    * Tax evaders have succeeded to hold over 135 billion (Rupees) as principal.
    * Civil and Military Officers of Grade 22 have managed to live luxurious life like Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
    * Pakistanis sacrifice over 100 billions (Rupees) to perform Hajj and Qurbani on Eid-al-Azha, every year.

    * Where this money comes from?
    * How Pakistan generates that much wealth?
    * Is it through Exports or Foreign Aid?
    * What are Pakistan's major Exports?

though i am going off topic but i have to answer u that Nawaz or for that matter any political leader is not as Sharif to have full authority and NOT to go for looting and plundering money...for money minded losers like we have as leaders ,its impossible to believe that they would have been refrained themselves from looting and plundering public money .

where is Qarz Utaro ,Mulk Sanwaro money?
    any idea ?

sasherwani have given good information regarding Abu Dhabi and it is true. These days the two emirates viz a viz Abu Dhabi and Dubai have also developed heat internally as Dubai expected that Abu Dhabi might rush to help her in this hard time but it could not happen. I read a news that Abu Dhabi may ask Dubai to surrender major assets like Emirates Airline, Banks against the monetary assistance. Some even went further and feared about the continuation of federation but I don't think there can be any threat to federation. Both the emirates know very well that any loss to federation may cause a draconian upset for their emirates as well.

I think we should start another topic for Qaz utaro Mulk sanwaro issue ,But I think this was just to get popular in public and this was wrong policy cannot be called corruption ,Is there any proof that NS took all the money from this program ? if yes then why this is not challenge in the court .

Javed Sahib .. for the common public i believe you also know that they spent their lives to save enough money to perform Hajj .. secondly "Qurbani" on Eid ul Adha is also made once in a year ... I hope you understand that common public does that out of their salaries or normal incomes...
