U.S. Role in Pakistan is quite evident in her history . Pakistan suffered a lot after supporting U.S. policies. Non of the government including opposition leaders(less Imran Khan ) ever condemned U.S. When we will stop begging? When and how should we stand up to compete Americans. Is it the time to review our relations with U.S. Can we stop begging visa? How can we minimize American's role in our internal and external policies?

    Pak truth,
"Non of the government including opposition leaders(less Imran Khan ) ever condemned U.S"

Well Imran Khan neither is a govermnet nor an opposition leader yet.Let him one first then we will be in good position to comment it.

He is not the only one who talked against US there are a lot more others, specially religious parties.

Once we learn tobe a pakistani and once we learn tobe honest with our own self and once we learn not to take religion as a shelter, we will not be begging for visas.

True that the USA is the culprit of our most of the miseries, but however our corrupt mullahs, lawyers and politicians are the culprits of equal degree. They have mostly been the bribers of the American CIA.

i think problem is that we are majboor.

so the solution lies in economics... get rid of IMF, get industry booming, get electricity back... these things will ease of Pakistani pressure that comes through "foreign aid". get our own digniity back first of all thats the solution and that comes when your nation is not starved.
    otherwise we will stay ghulaam.

    yess bro,
choosing genuine leadership is key to the problem as you have said. its the leaders that will set the policies that will grow Pakistan economically.
during Musharraf's time, however much we may criticize him, there was a reverse brain drain going on in Pakistan where people where coming back to Pakistan and bringing there money in. Now people have left Pakistan more than ever. this political instability is really bad for Pakistan's economics.

Absolutely wrong. Imran Khan is the only genuine critic of America in Pakistan, as far as politics is concerned. The religious parties have extremist agenda and for that reason they oppose anyone who is going against that agenda. Basically, they can cooperate with America as they did during Zia's rule if they think America is furthering the extremist agenda.

Imran on the other hand presents a more solid criticism of America based on humanistic values and Pakistan's well being. It has no religious biases, but simply what any country would want from its government to do, that is, not being the slave of a foreign force and hurt its on people's interests. There is no issue of Muslim vs non-Muslim, "war on Islam", the "greater game", the weird conspiracy theories, in Imran's criticism.

Imran's criticism of America is very much similar to his criticism against his own country. He has condemned Pakistani military offensive in the tribal regions and Swat, when the latter case saw so many so-called liberals succumbing to "patriotism" and supported use of military against their own people.

So for first time in politics, maybe after Jinnah (even Bhutto was weird and eccentric in his view of the world), we have found a sensible leader who knows about the world and can talk to the world on equal terms without making a fool of himself, either by too timid or moronically bold.

  17. Only if the knuckleheads take off their "short term American interest" spectacles they might understand that Why Pakistan Plays a Double Game.

  18. What's up with our "ally" Pakistan? and Why are we still in Afghanistan, anyway?

Because the oxymoranic minds of the new found world are not desiged to realize they have to deal with AFPAK now after killing OBL's ghost.

Absolutely wrong. Imran Khan is the only genuine critic of America in Pakistan, as far as politics is concerned.

Not a standard qualification that if you are anti american then you are a branded patriot.

(even Bhutto was weird and eccentric in his view of the world)

No doubt because he was couragous, stupidously brave, comitted the biggest blunder of his life by undermining the evil Unionists/Feudals who, as a Guy Folks team succeded at last by getting him hanged. Now it is their turn!

i hope they cut aid .. otherwise our hukmaran wud never say NO .. let them cut our aid and let us KICK them out from our lives ..

  21. Don't forget there is hostility of Pakistani public cracking up that the Americans have not really addressed.

They can never cut the aid. They will make it's flow uneasy by attaching strings. Doing so, a battle that has almost made home in their opinion could turn around and could change to new, unimaginable levels that Bin Laden or US of A couldn't even dream of.

The biggest mistake they made was abandoning Afghanistan and Pakistan in 1990 and paid a ghastly price of it, 1-3 Trillion dollars (war on terror) and a sword of fear hanging for the rest of their life which changed their country for ever.

If they leave Pakistan this time around, they might never have a return call number here because Pakistan is taking shots too, which is unprecedented.

It’s the time to be get united and should not tow American line of sorting out our armed forces and intelligence agencies. Government should take corrective measures to ensure security of Pakistan. We should ask govt for breaking of "Kashkole”. It’s only possible when ours leaders bring back their assets to invest in Pakistan. Moreover, Pakistan should give a idea of creating new geopolitical block. Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh should members of this Block. Pakistan should facilitate Russia and China to increase their influence against America.

Your assessment is correct that American can't cut aid to Pakistan. They are apparently not a charitable nation to distribute charity to Pakistan. They pay us unreasonably petty price for our costly services. Our rulers are their commission agents for rendering costly services of the nation on petty prices.

i thought long and hard about it .. my first reactions 'all reposnible should be fired - head must roll' .. then i saw this second opinion amongst people ' this is the agenda of CIA to get to ISI' .. no doubt being a pakistani and someone whoz been defending army on this forum, i immediately saw the hidden agenda in this line .. but then i thot and thot and thot and came to this conclusion

i do believe this this whole episode was a drama staged by US .. no doubt one of the reason was to get back and settle score on raymond davis fiasco .. another obvious could be the dsclosure of CIA operation cheif who had to leave Pakistan .. offocurse the ultimate target is the nukes and a strong presence in the region to coutner china iran .. and the list goes on .. BUT the point is .. although this drama took place, there was a failure on our end .. now it remians to be seen whose fault is it .. but i want head rolling .. coming to the point of dismissing the heads to our armed forces or agencies and that we should not tow the american line of getting our house in order .. i do no beleive in it .. i m not towing their line as i m not asking for a resignation because i beleive ISI was dileberaly keeping OBL there .. no sir no .. i believe this was a drama staged .. but the mere occurrence of this drama suggests that there was a failure .. the failure was in finding and exposing this drama .. now i do understand that govt might have issued illegal visas .. but then i do not expect my intelligence agencies to to go though the list given to them and then investigate .. a donkey can be trained to do that .. the very purpose of intelligence agency is to find out such state/non-state actors that conspire against the nation .. so in this regard there is a failure ..

and i m not excluding our govt from this drama .. they very well could be the silent partner in this crime .. so their heads must also roll .. but again the purpose of our agencies in to counter external and internal threats ..

in regards with resignations, i do not think ISI is merely pasha niether is army limited to kiyani .. people come and go .. institutions remain .. no human being is indispensible .. are u telling me that pasha sahab is of critical importance in this war against CIA .. wot happens if he (God forbid) die of an heart atack tomorrow .. would our army or agency fall on its head simply beacuse their one boss died (or wot happens when they retire) ... this is the very beauty of institutions .. they are not dependent upon people .. they are governed by policies .. people come and go and all of them carry forward the policies ..

so coming to the point, a failure occured .. since we do not have the precedent of moral resignations in our country, there should be an enquiry and each and everyone responsible should be fired irrespective of their profession .. someone should be blamed and the responsible should suffer .. that's the only way forward otherwise failures would keep repeating

P.S:- i still stand by my army and agencies .. they are critical for our survival ..
