US seeks to boost CIA presence in Pakistan: report

Read it as US seeks to boost [the number of bombs going off in shrines, markets, mosques and educational institutions] in Pakistan.

What has general kiyani agreed in return for the $2billion dollars?

and they are not shy about it too
'to expand a secret CIA operation designed to eliminate havens of radical militants located in Pakistan'
'A senior Pakistani official said relations with the CIA remain strong'

  3. Hello Salam. What on earth do they mean by "boost"? They have overrun the country already. One more here, one more there will make little difference.

As for Gen Kiyani, what his plans are is anyone's guess. The 2 billion dollars, we have Dr Shahid's word for it, will not be forthcoming before 2016. And the sums owed Pak for the years 2008 and 2009 for their marvellous participation in the "War on Terror" have still to be paid out. So all this money talk is talk and nothing but that. Hot air!

BTW: On the Dunya Today blog you've just come off, did you hear Haroon Rashid say a few weeks ago Zardari & Co were seriously considering de-notifying Gen Kiyani. I say, come on, guys, why stop there? Denotify the whole of Pakistan. Then you really have your hands free to practise Grand Larceny without hindrance. Following which, you could hand over the country to your CIA-Blackwater pals.

Two billion dollar between 2012-2016 for the services rendered by Pak army?

hmmmmmm I wonder what rate Americans are putting as head-money for each Pakistani supposedly mowed down during the period identified?

Not directly releted to above news but only yesterday a news report told us how a mother in Pakistan refused to sell her daughter to a foreigner offering 1 lac rupees for her daughter?

Much as praiseworthy the conduct of that mother was, I got to thinking how low in prestige we have indeed stooped where foreigners don't feel any shame in offering price for daughters and sons of Pakistanis......

If we had a government worth its salt no one would have dared to even think about it, much less to trumpete it all over the news media.....

    This was really a shocker!!!!

In my opinion Gen. Kiyani is not a soldier, he has been an intelligence operative all along.

He implemented mushy's directions on ground, pulling back of ISI from FATA thus giving free hand to other side, pulling back support from Kashmir, pulling back support from afghan, creating swat situation, creating lal masjid situation, establishing network of foreign agencies, kiyani is the mastermind.

Kiyani is guilty from Kargil till North Waziristan operation.

Only reason zardari & co are looting/plundering national wealth is because kiyani let them do it. He sides with zardari against judiciary.

"He sides with zardari against judiciary"

Might I add "while successfully selling he is siding with judiciary against Zardari."

People forget he was BB's military sec when Zardari gained fame as Mr. 10%. People forget his role in the NRO. People forget he was in the room with Mush/CJIMC that day. People forget he was Mush's most trusted guy and is a Mush appointee.

What we have is what Eric Margolis called "Plan B" in effect...

...Gen. Ashfaq Kiyani, the newly named vice chief of staff, could be Pakistan’s next strongman. If Musharraf is overthrown, killed or driven from office, Washington has chosen Gen. Kiyani as its Plan B, either with or without Benazir Bhutto. Kiyani has close links to the US and received part of his military training there...

  8. Musharraf had to meet the press/parliament to justify his actions, good 'ol Kiyani has no public facing to do.

Why did Kiyani meet old gamers on this trip: Colin Powell, D1ck Armitage and William Cohen? Somefin's fishy.

  9. General Kayani as a head of Pak Army may be seen—a man who is keeping an eye, a check on the Zardari and his cohorts that times and again he wards them off from crossing limits but sadly; both the figures (Zardari and Kayani), they have proved themselves ----the loyal American proxies.

Zardari has even excelled Musharraf in giving a free hand to American for their Drone attacks inside Pakistan when he says: “Kill the seniors (Al-Qaida and Taliban command hiding in the sanctuaries in Pakistan); Collateral damage (by drone attacks) worries you American. It does not worry me.”

Musharraf was never considered by American as their loyal ally-- rather he was booed and ridiculed for playing a double game; whereas Kayani is a good tool in the hands of American. Pak army under his command is doing everything which American wants him to do.

Surge in CIA personals is a bad news; when we see that owing to the ongoing subversion actions orchestrated by CIA; Americans are aiming at total depletion of Pakistan.Earlier when CIA was allowed to move into Pakistan it created TTP and what we got ---a total devastation in our urban areas.

Ironically; Pak Army is fast becoming a subservient to US. God forbid that with the planned boost in CIA operations, when Pak army happens to be the subservient to US; may we not see the history repeating itself once again---like we saw in December 1971?
The disintegration cracks are already showing.

  10. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

What the heck is Pakistan, are people of Pakistan doing about this nonsense ?

I hear too much that its happening. Yet, I see no retaliation from our own side.

  11. Haris khan, so you are surprised...!

    Man---The history speaks;

The people living on the mouth of Hindukush Mountains; the Gate ways to India (now taken a shape of a new country--- Pakistan) have never revolted and may not do so.

Rather they are always seen abetting the forces of the invaders and--- serve and work as mercenaries to mint monies and---- this runs in their blood.

  12. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

There is news from this latest so-called 'strategic dialogue' between Pakistan <-> USA that all assistance that USA is pledging to Pakistan, all of it will come through 'Kerry Lugar Aid Bill/Act'.

Which exposes what is actually going on.

    Posted 1 year ago on 24 Oct 2010 20:46 #
  13. Salam, nota, thanks for putting me wise to Gen Kiyani's possible motives. The double-gamer par excellence.

    Posted 1 year ago on 24 Oct 2010 20:53 #
  14. 'Kerry Lugar Aid Bill/Act' is infact a mercenary bill which is subject to performance of mercenary Pakistan. Reportedly its only one instalment came through--- rest is pending evaluation--- that whether or not Pakistan has conducted well as per the will and wishes of US. This conduct is still under consideration.

The new 2 billion amount will be payable from 2012 onward subject to approval of US senate in 2012. It is allocated for Pak army for the purchase of equipment from USA. Most of it will cover the cost of the already purchased arsenals like F-16s and helicopters that their cost is said to be increased before the final closing of accounts.

    Posted 1 year ago on 24 Oct 2010 21:03 #
  15. Of course, the money would be transferred thru Kerry Lugar bill, a mechanism already in place. Don't think the two Billion would come in a new channel.

  16. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

No one is listening to me. No one is talking about what needs to be done. No one is grouping up, getting ready for action.

    I hear a lot of slurs on JI, on me, about them, about me;

    (1) 'taking action'
    (2) 'taking action on their own'
    (3) thinking there is no one else in Pakistan

What is the rest of Pakistan doing ?

What has it been doing since Pakistan was created ?

When is every other Pakistani going to wake up, take charge, and kick some @$$ in this country, in this world, in this universe ?

    Where's the action ?

As far as I see, most Pakistanis' are sitting ducks waiting to be put out of their misery.

Zardari believed 'US was behind Taliban attacks in Pak' to gain access to its nukes.

The account of Zardari's claim about the US' hand in the attacks has been elaborately reproduced by US journalist Bob Woodward "One evening during the trilateral summit (in Washington, between Obama, Karzai and Zardari) Zardari had dinner with Zalmay Khalilzad, the 58-year-old former US ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq and the UN, during the Bush presidency.

"Zardari dropped his diplomatic guard. He suggested that one of the two countries was arranging the attacks by the Pakistani Taliban inside his country: India or the US. Zardari didn't think India could be that clever, but the US could. Karzai had told him the US was behind the attacks, confirming the claims made by the Pakistani ISI."

"Mr President," Khalilzad said, "what would we gain from doing this? You explain the logic to me."

"This was a plot to destabilize Pakistan, Zardari hypothesized, so that the US could invade and seize its nuclear weapons. He could not explain the rapid expansion in violence otherwise. And the CIA had not pursued the leaders of the Pakistani Taliban, a group known as Tehrik-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan or TTP that had attacked the government. TTP was also blamed for the assassination of Zardari's wife, Benazir Bhutto."

"We give you targets of Taliban people you don't go after," Zardari said. "You go after other areas. We're puzzled," Woodward quoted him.

But the drones were primarily meant to hunt down members of al Qaeda and Afghan insurgents, not the Pakistan Taliban, Khalilzad responded.

"But the Taliban movement is tied to al Qaeda, Zardari said, so by not attacking the targets recommended by Pakistan the US had revealed its support of the TTP. The CIA at one time had even worked with the group's leader, Baitullah Mehsud, Zardari asserted."

Woodward reports: "Khalilzad listened calmly, even though the claims struck him as madness. The US was using the Taliban to topple the Pakistani government? Ridiculous. But Khalilzad knew Afghanistan's President Karzai also believed in this conspiracy theory, more evidence that this region of the world and its leaders were dysfunctional."

"Despite Zardari's claims, Pakistani government officials had received top secret CIA briefings about drone attacks against Baitullah Mehsud's TTP. A March 12, 2009 attack against a Mehsud compound killed more than two dozen militants, who quickly retrieved the remains of their fallen comrades. And on April 1, another five militants linked to Mehsud, including an al Qaeda trainer, died in a drone strike, according to a CIA briefing given to Pakistan in April."

This account by Woodward, although old, reveals how initially Zardari and his strategists viewed and tackled the suicide attacks inside Pakistan. However, it is not clear whether his strong conspiracy theory forced the US strategists and CIA to start attacking the Pakistan Taliban and prove him wrong.

ISI units loyal to taliban and jihadis are going to resist this with full force. They have a booming business minting money on NATO supply, kidnapping, bombings and smuggling.

Anything that gets in their way and returns the region to peace is not something they want. Perpetual war means perpetual money for ISI, it's Taliban allies, CIA, contractors and military industrial complex.

And in foolishness young kids in Afghanistan and Pakistan think their are fighting JIHAD! They are pawns for money.

  21. Some interesting comments from US renews bonds with Pak Army:
Teresita Schaffer, a former US diplomat who has served in Islamabad on Kiyani:

“Partly that’s because the military in Pakistan is a can-do institution, much more so than the civilians,” she said. “This is partly theatrics, but we as a people are magnetically drawn to an institution and a leader who says, ‘Yeah, I can help you with what you really want to get done,’” she said.

(Now how many leaders you know "leaders" who say "Masa, give me any order and I'll follow it!"??)

Lisa Curtis, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation and former US policymaker on South Asia:

a more critical test for military assistance to Pakistan may come next year.
    ...
...“We are entering a somewhat new phase in US military assistance to Pakistan when for the first time we’re actually seeing the aid conditioned on Pakistan meeting benchmarks,” Curtis said.

Our problem; we see conspiracy in everything that we cannot fathom or fail to understand......

couch-potato intellectuals are another bad luck to Pakistan as they sit in their cosy abodes and relentlessly criticize anything and everything they read about on the net.....their little but fertile brains remain busy in spinning conspiracy theories.....lolzzzz.

Their own contribution? of course zilch, goose eggs, naught......

  23. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@SultanAliKhan: There are many decades (if not centuries) of history behind what is happening inside Pakistan.

This is not an 'illusion' that we are trying to 'fathom' or 'failing' to 'understand'.

This is not a mistake. This is not a joke. This is very serious stuff.

Look closely. Look deeper. Do your own independent research into what is happening around you.

  25. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@SultanAliKhan: Before 'questioning' what others 'contribute' to Pakistan, to people of Pakistan, you need to take heed of my warning.

Do not question others without making your own credibility crystal clear

Show us, show the community what you have 'contributed' before you get the 'right', the 'privilege' to 'question' others on what they have.

For yes, there are many that you don't know who 'contribute'. Perhaps far more than you.

How can a person who wants to have fun claim he 'contributes' to this nation (collective) ?

    look haris khan

my idea of asking you what you ask everyone here publicly is to make you think-

think about what is 'crystal clear credibility' on an internet forum.

may be this debate tactic comes handy when you engage someone face-to-face, but this doesn't work on internet, the sooner you learn the better it is, or else try answering above questions yourself and when it comes to my turn... you will see my response.. rest assured on that!

why should we not analyze the situation?

regarding doing our own responsibilities with due honesty and devotion... again that is just a myth...

chief justice is a very powerful position and he is trying to go 'honest' & 'devotion' but nothing is resolving?

i think we need to elevate ourselves from that superficial thinking.. i am trying to highlight many of your points with due logic & example, i hope you would understand that.

How is that a 'wise' way of conducting yourself ?

Isn't this called 'spreading' 'roumers', 'whispers', 'idle speculation' based on lies ?

Isn't this what Zionists, Unjust Jews, unjust Christians, Gog/Magog do (i.e., sell/spread 'whispers', 'corruption', 'lies'. Force people to engage in 'idle speculation') ?

Is this what knowing Islam has 'taught' you ? I'm ashamed! of you.

@Salam...well, a General is a General... even after retirement his views and experience are considered valuable...a prime example in sight is General Musharraf, who is still making millions by delivering lectures all over and across the globe.

you call doing our own job honestly and with devotion "a myth and superficial thinking?? gosh......bro if this is a myth than tell me the way you think can bring change??

as for CJP, well, if you look honestly you shall see what little good has come out of Supreme Court thus far is a big example of what good can come out if one is doing one's job with honesty and due diligence.....

by the way, one man cannot change the whole rotten system but one can make the difference by setting good examples...that is what so far supreme court judges have proved....just imagine the abysmal depth that Pak would have plunged into if judiciary were not standing in current govt's way....

As for hariskhan being a jamati, well, i think he is not from that fold because jamatis at least speak sensible....lolzzz.....to me he is a frustrated and lost Talib trying to fetch his bread....lolllzzz

  36. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@Salam: Don't think highlighting 1 mistake from JI gives you the 'credibility' to stand up to JI, or people who are part of it.

    I don't want to play the Pakistani game of;

    (1) 'finding problems, drawbacks in others'
    (2) 'highlighting' problems way out of proportion
    (3) attributing with others roumers, that which is not true
    (4) promoting 'idle speculation'
    (5) engaging in 'mud-slinging'

Always remember, 'two can play at this game'. Stop, before you embarrass yourself further.
