Wall street protest

(15 posts)
  1. "Dharna" at Wall street New York

Thousands meandered from lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park -- considered a rallying point for the largely leaderless group -- to Foley Square near City Hall.

The crowd then looped back to the park, punctuating a 19-day protest that promotes a wide, if not ambiguous, range of messages.
Causes range from social awareness to radical change in America's financial and political systems, while other participants appeared content to simply get caught up in the spirit of demonstration.

Still, while the fledgling movement has struggled in its definition, demonstrators appear steadfast in their general criticism of the country's wealthiest 1% and its purported influence.

Some carried placards and shouted slogans denouncing corporate excess, while others said they were "fed up" with high unemployment and a lack of economic opportunity. Still others said they had simply been waiting for a moment to express their voice and kick-start a conversation about inequality.

  2. Well, well, so we finally got there, did we? I've been waiting for sometime now to see who would post something on this important issue and it turned out to be you, iamsowise. Many thanks. Occupy is into its 22nd or 23rd day now. It has spread to almost 1300 cities and towns in US and it's not about to go away anytime soon. Not only that, it's spreading into Europe where the first protests will be seen the coming weekend. Consider this the west's "Arab Spring", ignored, snubbed and then suddenly adopted by MSM to give it their own spin of incompetence on the part of the protestors. Rubbish! They know perfectly well what their demands are: The 99 per cent they represent must be given a voice in the running of the country, the 1 per cent military-politico-banking junta must be ousted. Otherwise the country will break up as predicted by Panarin several years ago.

The uncertain economic of the USA is boosting the sale of precious metals in the world. Gold seems to be making a very high hike in the forthcoming years.

  5. Mirza sahib usualy nota post these type of issues, hope he will join us again.

US citizens are demanding fundamental change in USA policy, they are not demanding for a midterm election, America is heading towards martial law, it seems like we will witness the fall of two super powers in our life.

  6. We will, we will witness it, iamsowise, no doubt about it.
And no doubt about what you said about nota either. That was his special province. Like you, I too hope he will end up by joining us again. Meanwhile, thank you for doing what was required to make us focus on a very important issue for the future of the entire world.

  8. Yup, Ajhons. And long before next summer, thousands will also have added their weight to the existing movement. Come Saturday, we may well see Europe waking up to its responsibilities as well.

Will this bring the change as being demanded by the people in US?

In 60s and 70s there were even bigger gathering in US against the Vietnam war, did that make the US govt to stop the war, no, the war only stopped because there was nothing more US could do to win it... and they (US) were literally thrown out of there...

Same here, although things are different, public pressure is there not to cease the wars because of some silly PEACE reasons but it is there because the wars are causing financial meltdown and people there are feeling the heat.

There are ways to calm these people, down, next year is election year in US, there would be another OBAMA like candidate campaigning for CHANGE, selling YES WE CAN and when get elected would be doing the same...

No big hopes from these demonstrations and by hope i mean, hope for the betterment of these people, yes there are bright chances that these demonstrations might lead to SOME real change on GLOBE, adding few more countries in North Americas..

  12. So it just wasn't only the whole of Europe practically, it was countries on many continents: Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Teipei, Canada, and, and, and. The most impressive of them all was Italy which saw 250.000 people marching and then going on to battle the police with all their might. Global Revolution is here now. And no one should think it's going to disappear anytime soon.
