Very good motivational words by you! I appreciate your patriotism. However, our patriotism should enable us to fathom certain facts and figures which can be helpful in taking the country out of unbearable mess.

    the key word is education.

Bangladesh holds a good future because they are taking education seriously and they have more literacy rate than Pakistan. India already has made progress due to making education compulsory.

If masses are educated, it is a good sign for future of a country. That is where Bangladesh beats Pakistan. you can go ahead and try to prove me wrong :)

well HF bhai, Im sorry for being so stereotypical,

But India and Bangladesh beat us on not allowing feudals to ever rule their country as well.

Pakistan is in better state than Bangladesh?

I think we should be proud of country when we do something and make it in better state than the rest... I dont see a point in having fake pride in us, its just so counterproductive. We have no bragging rights whatsoever.

we can brag about things when we have something to brag about lol... besides being nuclear i guess lets leave only that one out.

    @spruce,

If so many schools were developed as you say, I dont know why Pakistan has still not made much progress in education sector? Right now, we should be king.

another question, what was the quality of those schools? Was there anything done to maintain them as many schools today look like trash.

another question, where those schools eventually taken up by jaageers in villages who started using schools as private property for their own functions.

and at 50,000 new teachers in Pakistan.

question arises, how many of these teachers have actually gone to school and taught something, i see documentary after documentary showing how so called teachers never show up to a in dirty schools found in villages, and students get day off. And entire school is run by one teacher... WOW

Even in last 2 years or so, if PPP was serious about education, they would have made some serious reforms, the correct attitude to administer change is missing sir.

Yes, our country is much more potential than Bharat or Bangladesh. Our feudal system is one of the major hurdles in our development. Moreover, our involvement in the Soviet-Afghan war has been a very costly affair.

All the arms and ammunitions poured into Karachi as a result of the Afghan war. The lawlessness in Karachi is one of the reasons of Pakistan's backwardness compared to the other countries of the region. Karachi is revenue generating engine of Pakistan. Disturbances in Karachi damage our national economy very badly.

After Afghanistan, Pakistan is now the 2nd. most backward country of the subcontinent. Why have we not started taking serious interest in our matters?

I think you have not visited other countries of the SAARC region. Please make a visit to each of them, staying at least a couple of weeks, if not more, in each of them, visiting different parts.

If after that, you put your hand on your heart and are still willing to say that a common man in these countries is more prosperous and is enjoying a more comfortable life than Pakistanis, then I won't argue with you.

I have actually seen these countries and the level of poverty and lack of facilities is such which is unimaginable in Pakistan.

True that some areas of Pakistan suffered from terrorist attacks in the last few years but that makes those parts of Pakistan dangerous, not backward.

That is why I am requesting you to actually visit these countries. You will find the reality very much different from what one deduces from imaginary estimations like Human Development Index etc.

  17. Adonis you are quite right. But we could have been much better than now if we had managed our resources properly. We need sincere leadership then we can beat developed one as well.

There are many political mistakes of the past because of which we were left behind India and Bangladesh. In the beginning, our rate of progress was better than that of India. As identified by you, jagirdeeri system is most fundamental ailment of our country. It can not be abolished by a democratic process, as most of the elected members of our parliament are jagirdars themselves. They will never abolish the system which is benefiting them. All the four military dictators i.e. Ayub Khan, Yahaya Khan, Zia Ul Haq and Musharaff missed the chances of abolishing the jagerdari system.
