    In his last term CJ Iftekhar was all over the govt. Taking suo motos on Steel Mill, missing persons, farm houses, inflation etc etc. All very important and very popular with the people of Pakistan.

    I think it was this sole reason that people rallied behind thinking that CJ would eventually help them by keeping a close tab on the govt.

    However the CJ-Version 2 has been quite a disappointment to many. Others than few NS payback decisions, nothing significant has happened from the Supreme Court. CJ backed off from the petrol tax ( Fuel prices raised again yesterday ). Mush issue pushed back to parliament. No news on NRO, missing person, and May 12. No action on all the corruption 'allegations', sugar scandal, inflation, load shedding etc etc.

    Has he been told by the boss Holbroke not mess with the 'system' and just do time pass or is he waiting for the right moment?

    CJ will do things gradually according to law. He is a Jurist but we consider him a revolutionary; which he isn't. Slowly but gradually he will implement rule of law. Impact of Judicial policy will slowly emerge. I am positive about the outcome. However, we will see so many attempts to derial the Judicial reforms and indepencdence of Judiciary.
    We have to understand one obvious point, i.e. previously establishment used to sent stern warnings or messages to Juciairy and Judges used to pee in their pants and do whatever they wanted to. But this isn't the case anymore, Judges are independent and assertive. Therefore, estbalishment get more sophisticated. For example, launching of Brig. Billa is very intelligent move. That opens can of worms, we may see more distraction in future too. This is pschy-op mind game.

  3. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    I agree with Rafi. ALL that is being shown in media is to derail the ongoing process in the courts of LAW.

    They are trying to defocus our nation from talking about justice.

    They are trying to defocus our nation from Musharraf's treason trial.

    INSHALLAH they will fail

    @All

    On 20th July, 2007 SC restored CJ IMC through a short order, however after the lapse of more than two years detailed judgement (containing reasons of the judgument) has still not been issued !
