This is an important question and nation would like to know sources of Altaf Hussain income and how he is running a political party for the last 20 plus years. I do not have any clues but this question raises many doubts about Iltaf's source of income. Iltaf has been living a lavish life and when we ask questions about other public figures so we should ask Iltaf's source of income as well.

MemberLol. MQM workers give 1% of their income to MQM. But may be you dont know but during the bakra eid days just by collecting skins of animal MQM roughly generate 1~2 billion rupees. This is how big Karachi is.

MemberNo, I think there are much more important questions to find out than it. Living in UK means you have grantied your expenditures, as these states are welfare states, which in fact Islamic states like Pakistan supposed to be. So Altaf gets his feed in UK according to UK's law.
I think mosre INTERESTING is to find out from WHERE Mulla and their parties getting their funds from???
Now an ordinary mulla has lot of wealth, without having any education and profession. HOW and from WHERE they are getting money? What is their source of income? Definitely HARAM gettings?????raheb

yeah me too wanna know Altaf's source of income because most of the time MQM leaders and suppoters portray themselves from middle class which doesn't seem to be true and Altaf Hussain is living in UK from quite a long time now so how doesnt he manage everything since he doesnt work or belong to a rich family...there is something fishy about it!

You are right that most MQM workers are poor but you should also understand now a days many of their supporters are also from upper middle class like Nazimabad and also from upper class like defence, clifton and if you remember they also donated money for Boltan Market and Boltan market also have many MQM supporters....but honestly we cant deny what ever you are saying about Bhatta or chanda as well but anyway I live very near to their sector office and I havent noticed anything like that except 2 or 3 days before eid they ask for KKF chanda but never forced us to pay on the other hand people from masjid/madarsas, NGOs do same for before eid....so I would say I never had any such experience of Bhatta culture that is associated with MQM...

Though MQM's workers and sector offices do collect Bhatha in some areas. On EID too while interacting with public from all around Karachi they do issue advance receipts even before the Eid day as yahya87 himself pointed out.

Yes before eid they came for KKF chandda but never force anyone to pay so it wont be called Bhatta as Bhatta is forced on people and if they come before eid then what about Masjid/madarsa, NGOs etc they also do the same so pointing out MQM would be wrong because everyone follow the same way.....and expakistani is right that all parties do same tactics to earn money and for live example plz go to KU where Jamiat also collect money from student(have many frnds their) for organizing bookfair and for other activities as well...so the problem is with political environment of Karachi not with MQM or other parties if we want to blame someone then blame the political environment of Karachi not MQM or other parties...

The discussion is on the "mode" of financing. All orgs get money one way or the other, that's understood. Apparently some means might as well fall under حصول رزق حلال.
The people cannot forgive when money is wrung from an individual or business, but when railway engines wind up in steel factories, loans are written off or kickbacks are received during carrying out of national contracts, that is different because no one party is bung while 180 Million dons get squared off getting their fair share.

ofcourse no one would ever come and put a gun on yer head askin u fr the chanda..but thn thr are diff ways to get the money out...but again...as far as i remember..unless and untill you yourself involve into political activities thn the parties and unions expect sumthin frm u..if you are lving yer life..thn let it be...but yes sumtimes..it wasnt just money..you ask fr a favor frm any union fr gettin admission forms and stuf..and then they keep an eye on you and whn they need you..they ll take some work frm you...but yess...i think the days of forcing someone to give a chanda were may be in 80,s or before but frm 90,s onwards i havent seen anything like tht.!
