What was the winning %age of Pakistan in Test Cricket with IK as captain? How does he compare with other Pakistani captains?

People claim that his being cricket team captain will benefit him as leader of Pakistan.
Thus, it would be useful to know his results in test cricket. We cannot focus on 1992 World Cup, specially since it is One Day Cricket, where luck plays a greater part than in Test Cricket.

Who care what the winning % was, he was the best captain our cricket team had.

Pakistan team's performance was just mediocre during IK's tenure. It was never a top team or probably not even top 3 for a prolonged period of time.

An unexpected world cup win raised IK's name in the game's history.

    @bsobaid,

You don't know anything about the game!

Pakistan team was favorite in 1987 Word Cup held in Pakistan. Pakistan lost in the semifinals to Australia.

Pakistan accomplished many triumphs during Imran's leadership, including the first test series victories in India and West Indies.

Overall the performance was only mediocre. Pakistani lost majority games against West Indies and Australia.

Whats important is under IK pakistan was fighting; before IK all other captains were very much defensive

The winning %age of Pakistan in Test Cricket with IK as captain is 29% with 54% ending in a draw.

This seams to imply that he was either a defensive captain or his team was not good.

Compare with other Pakistani Captains, who have led in at least 19 games, he ranks 5th out of 6 (Kardar war 6th).

The statistics do not back the common belief that he was the best captain of Pakistan Test Team.

Cricket is a game of statistics. You have to look at the opponents as well. Currently Misbah would have a pretty good winning average, but last 3 opponents have been Zim, SL and Bang.

Also, consider test series results. Whats better? A team that wins 3 5 match series series 1-0 or a team that loses 3 5 match series series 2-3. The second team would double the win% but no series wins.

I know you are going to great lengths to prove IK was not a good captain :)

But what people remember is that under IK pak won first time against India in India, against eng in eng and were the only team that competed well against the mighty WI (argubaly the best test team ever - only aus of 90s came close).

    What a ridiculous thread.

Just for the sake of some peace let's agree upon that Imran was a "pedestrian" in cricket abilities ;)

This is what I found on Cricinfo...Hey maybe they are lying ;)

Remember Imran was an all rounder, and read below! How many all rounder do you find with the below numbers?

    ************************
in his last 10 years of international cricket he played 51 Tests, averaging a sensational 50 with the bat and 19 with the ball. He gave no quarter during some memorable battles with West Indies - Pakistan drew three series with them at a time when everybody else was being bounced out of sight - and he led Pakistan to their first series victory in England in 1987, taking 10 for 77 with an imperious display in the decisive victory at Headingley.

For the record folks, Pakistan has never won a test series in West Indies till date. From the comments of some followers of Deen-e-Imrani, it seems that Imran Khan was the only player in Pakistan cricket team performing in the field and the rest of the 10 players were just playing with a Chankana in the dressing room.

^You're just assuming that uncle sid. No one is saying that..

It's true that Pak have never won in WI. But they did draw against them in the 80s in WI when WI were considered the strongest test side around.
