Well, both of the poets, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Faiz Ahmad Faiz, have writen about the issues related to the lives of people living in Pakistan, but with different perspectives.

  6. We should have the tradition of honoring more than one national poet, we should not be stuck in the gora system which he imparted on us 100 years ago....

we should honor both poets as they are carriers of the same light.....

There is difference b/w 'discussions' and 'problem' !

What do you think discussions lead to problems or problems are solved by the discussions ???

Personally I haven’t understood Iqbal's "message" if in fact there is a single-ish message. Iqbal saying different things at different times is one reason. Everyone just seems to pick what they like and in apparent blind aqeedat claim on Iqbal’s behalf whatever they like. I remember Dr Javaid Iqbal (Iqbal's son) once said in a Jang interview that people have misunderstood Iqbal and Iqbal did not mean certain things attributed to Iqbal. The next day there was a barrage of critics saying pretty much that Iqbal’s son has no right to speak on Iqbal and should just STHU.

Another aspect is Iqbal’s “pragmatism”. Maulana Kalam once said Iqbal supported tehrik-e-khilafat verbally but never set a single foot down from his charpai for this tehrik.

Iqbal criticised British in urdu poetry but accepted British Knighthood and government jobs.

I love your honest and clear feelings .....

Iqbal rahamtuallah alyehi was a "thinker" and not "actor"..yani he was a person of thought and not action. Which is absolutely ok cause he was the think tank and not the tank!

Most of his lovers originate from urdu medium jamat e islami cause he cried about the loss of muslim but non islamic government of the moguls....

its very easy to understand him if you can read persian, he said stuff easier in persian than urdu...

You are against Iqbal jsut because he talked about revival of Islam and made muslim to think local. But you will never be able to defame or rip him off his title. If it were upto you,you would have re written his all works but we will not let you do it.He maybe dead but his message lives on.

And No. No one can be Iqbal and No one can be worthy of such title more than Iqbal.Maybe some second national poet or something like that but not national poet.

    Period!

    :)

    National nationalist Poet
    National Comedian Poet
    National Sofi Poet
    National Vulgar Poet
    National Chichorra Poet
    National Time waster poet etc

i heard about the only pakistani noble prize winner and there has been no thread about abdus salam.

why to discuss about the past??

why not to talk sane and logic and shed the old ways of discussing 62 years old things

like :who contributed how much in creation of pakistan is not a matter of concern in 2009,what matters is who and whose all will make pakistan a respectable ,self reliant country in this millennium

The scholar who talk sense could be declared as Anti-Pakistan or an agent of Kafirs.
Be careful on talking about Dr. Abdul Salam. He has been declared Kafir by a section of Fanatics.

Dr. Abdul Salam is a Hero of Pakistan. Nobody should refuse/refute his great work.

Late Z.A Bhutto nain kaha tha 'hum ghas kha lain gay laiken atom bomb zaroor banain gay'. But the likes of Abdul Salam and Abdul Qadeer along with their team of scientists made us able so as to walk proud.

Same as we can have Justice Baghwan Das....No issue at all as they are Pakistanis we are Pakistanis but they are and will remain our heros.
