Income Tax, Man, we need all the money for the big projects.
In US even the waiters have to pay tax on the tips they receive.

  2. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    @zia m: So;

    (1) why doesn't government tax the rich in this country ?

    (a) Why do they only continue to tax the people who are doing white collar jobs ?

    (b) Why doesn't Govt. make taxation system, Zakaat system transparent ?

    (2) Where does ALL the money that Govt. earns through big businesses go to ?

    (3) Why doesn't Govt. decrease! its luxuries, its ludicrous expenditures in order to make sure the deficit gap is reduced or wiped out ?

Business men are even more corrupt than the government.I knew a few jamati business people who used to take pride in not paying the taxes.
You should avoid answering a question by asking another question.

  4. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@zia m: I'm not avoiding that question. That question has no relevance here.

Why do people of this same nation pay millions, perhaps billions, in donations to Imran Khan EVERY YEAR, if they don't want to pay taxes ?

In contrast, the questions I have raised, remain unanswered.

Govt. is not doing what it should be doing to improve the situation by a great! degree.

Do you think the mullahs should have immunity from taxes?

    Posted 2 years ago on 21 Feb 2010 0:37 #
  6. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@zia m: NO! one should have immunity from paying taxes, no matter who it is.

That still doesn't answer my questions.

P.S. MULLAH doesn't hold bulk of the money of this nation. They never have, in the history of Pakistan

JI's records are available for anyone to scrutinize.

    (1) MULLAH hasn't been running Pakistan since its creation

    (2) MULLAH hasn't been managing Pakistan's money since its creation

    (3) Islamic laws, Islam's financial system have/has never been implemented in Pakistan since its creation

How can you conveniently blame MULLAH for everything ?

I have a feeling JI collects more money from people than Imran Khan. I would love to see some hard figures. If you belong to jamat you may have the figures.

  8. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@zia m: Great!. Another assumption. Can't you guys give me anything other than assumptions ?

    I don't work in JI's hierarchy. I don't know details of JI's financial matters.

Don't! change the subject. JI is not the topic here. Pakistan Govt. is. How it treats people within Pakistan is the topic on this thread. Please remain focused on the topic at hand.

I am a law abiding citizen. I have paid taxes ALL my years for which I have worked.

I want to know how Pakistan Govt. conducts itself.

The businessmen i knew in Pakistan used the excuse zakat is compulsory and mentioned in Quran and tax evasion is not a crime there is no mention of taxes in Quran.
Do you ever hear a mullah preaching social responsibility?

  10. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@zia m: MULLAH does NOT! hold the bulk of the money of Pakistan.

If Govt. of Pakistan is not collecting tax from JI or any other MULLAH, those running Govt. should be HANGED!!! in OPEN!!! PUBLIC!!! for it.

Forget about MULLAH. MULLAH is not going to save me, you, every other person from our afterlife.

STOP! with your irrelevant arguments. Talk about Govt. of Pakistan, which is relevant to the topic of this thread.

    JI is not;

    (1) running Pakistan
    (2) managing Pakistan's financial affairs
    (3) collecting tax from me

This Govt. has spent 2! years (730+ days) in power, it hasn't done anything to improve current taxation system, laws. It hasn't done anything to make taxation system transparent.

You are just wasting time on the internet.I know your intentions are good and you have a sincerety of a child.
Things have to be changed at the grass root level in Pakistan. It will be more rewarding for you to get involved at the ground level.
They say educate a woman and educate a family. In our case if you can educate a mullah you can educate the whole mohalla.

  12. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    @zia m: I agree.

@RajputPuttar: The budget current Pakistan Govt. made for the year 2009-2010 has been widely criticized by many in Pakistan, including traders, exporters.

More than 100 requests were given for modification on policies/procedures adopted in this budget by traders, exporters alone, which were conveniently ignored.

Its farce! to say the least.

    Harris,
If everyone criticized the budget , i damn care.

Its approved by the competent authority , the lower house of parliament.

We can't leave such an important responsbility to fundo mullahs of mansoora or talibans.

The elected reprs of people have passed the budget and thats more credible than any other body.

  14. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

@RajputPuttar: Ok, great!. The next time I find you criticizing Govt., I'll advertise you a hypocrite, then.

Why ? Because you fully agree, with the competent authority's decisions in the above post. and you damn care.

  15. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

    @zia m: I'm referencing news clip from DAWN to show you that JI and its people DO pay their taxes;

DAWN News: Only four in the run for NA-55 seat pay taxes

This should be enough to show them, to stop anyone, who hurl claims of miss-conduct on JI, its members.

  16. Assalam-o-Alaikum-Warahmat-ULLAH ALL,

What I also want to add here is, that education becomes interesting to people, when it is applied in doing the work that we do everyday.

When there aren't any opportunities, education, by which I mean acquiring skills, doesn't really matter. What good is acquiring a skill that you can't use to earn benefits ?

When people have opportunities, work in real life where they can apply their knowledge, they learn new things, they create new knowledge, they add! to existing knowledge.

When people don't have opportunities, don't have work in real life where they can apply their knowledge, they don't learn new things, they don't create new knowledge, they don't add to existing knowledge. In-fact the knowledge that they have becomes useless for them. Why spend time, money, effort in acquiring knowledge that will be useless ?

DAWN News: Export credit insurance for engg sector urged

ISLAMABAD: The engineering sector has called upon the federal government for an export credit insurance scheme to cover the commercial and political risks, debilitated power supply, infrastructure bottlenecks and poor country perception.

These matters were discussed at the Engineering Development Board (EDB) meeting held here on Thursday for the formulation of national engineering development export strategy (Needs). It was suggested that the government may share the premium cost with exporters on matching share basis.

The meeting held under the chair of Mian Sohail Hussain, a leading industrialist, noted that the price preference rule on public sector procurement under a government notification is practised in almost every government agency, but no preference was being given to local manufacturers, thereby putting the local industry at a disadvantage against imports.

It was suggested that the notification should be redesigned with stringent measures for compulsory purchases of engineering goods being manufactured locally. This would gradually develop the capacity of local industry, participants of the meeting stressed.

The stakeholders also recommended for a 50 per cent inland and sea freight support by the government for making the industry competitive. The support in sea freight for heavy engineering goods was recommended at 10 per cent CFR/CIF value for enabling exporters to be more competitive in the international market.

Recognising the fact that almost all the input material for the engineering industry were imported with no tangible competitive advantage, higher cost of capital, energy and lack of research and development centres in the public and private sectors, a government R&D support was recommended with linkages to some tangible activity for product development.

This could promote research and development culture in the industry and encourage entrepreneurship among young professionals and entities.

    ..continued..
    -------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope this is a step in the right direction.
