Will MQM-PPP alliance collapse?

The two parties seem to be at odds with each other regarding the way LB elections should be held in sindh.

The mqm wants to retain the 2001 system whereas the ppp wants it replaced with 1979 local bodies system but with some minor changes.

MQM wants land revenue and police to be under local bodies.
PPP wants to divide karachi into 5 or more districts which mqm wont allow.

If deadlock over the local bodies system persists then it might become impossible for MQM and PPP to keep their alliance intact and eventually lead to mid-term polls.

I am with MQM on this.

Police needs to be under local bodies.

It will be a very good move.

Why not try a change? Has the police been doing something the way it is?

As per the 1973 constitution the police is supposed to be under provincial gov.

I guess we will have to first make an amendment in constitution to bring the police under the control of local bodies.

what do you think,is this likely to happen?

its unlikely to happen as PPP doesnt like it,

but atleast MQM is taking the stand for its home.

Police should be under local bodies, its a very bright idea, its a good way to create change.

And if PPP doesnt accept the demand then should MQM pull out of the coalition.
What will happen if MQM doesnt accept demands put forward by PPP?
Will they they make any headway?

    @asif86

If PPP dont accept demand then they have came together for a bigger reason and that is democratic system in Pakistan and as far as I can say MQM wont be fool that they would do same thing which they did in 1990 PPP Govt. and after that they were accused of being Zia's creation etc...If this collision remains for three more years then this Govt. has better chances to complete their tenure otherwise you know PPP have already got themselves into so many issues you can say some because of MQM but not all but anyways another dimension of this collision is that this collision is between two largest political forces of Sindh and if it survives then urban interior divide will become weak and this would help Sindh province to solve their provincial issues with federation effectively...
