Security forces on Wednesday arrested Shahzain Bugti, seizing heavy arms and ammunition from his convoy at a checkpost in Quetta.

According to the details, the convoy of provincial president Jamhuri Watan Party (JWP)Shahzain Bugti was stopped at Buleli Checkpost in Quetta.

During the course of searching the vehicles in the convoy, the Frontier Corps (FC) have recovered heavy arms and ammunition from 16 of the vehicles.

The arms recovered included 48 Kalashnikovs, 4 Rocket Launchers, thousands of rockets, Mortar Shells, 5 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 of rounds, FC told.

  7. Oh hold your orgasmic spasms...but thanks for proving you geniuses are clueless.

The issue is NOT that he was carrying arms (every one who is anyone does so there and much smaller fish go around in convoys of 100+ vehicles all 'fully loaded')

I do believe him when he says "the government has prepared this plot to prevent him from going to Dera Bugti", his hometown -- You know 'Dera' 'Bugti' -- and that is why FC stopped him since they have their own pawn playing 'Sardar' there (That one too is Akbar Bugti's grandson and he too goes around in a convoy of loaded vehicles)

No he is not going to be killed as you might wish (FC would have done it already if they wanted him dead) so pull up your pants ;-)

Another stupid move by FC which is only going to help the other side (and PML-N. Wonder if this was a reaction to Baloch leaders call on Nawaz Sharif)
    :-P

BTW: What do you geniuses suppose will be the end of this incident? (I know you will be p!ssed when it doesn't happen)

    P.S.

The arms recovered included 48 Kalashnikovs, 4 Rocket Launchers, thousands of rockets, Mortar Shells, 5 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 of rounds, FC told.

I'll buy the 48 Kalashnikovs, the 4 Rocket Launchers, the Mortar Shells but the "thousands of rockets and morter shells, 5 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 of rounds" is BEYOND hilarious.

You bird-brains have any clue how much weight those things have and how much space they occupy? I'll give you 16 Toyota pickups and you try to move half that stuff using them and see how far you get...

It has nothing to do with the illegal arms. Frankly if they stop zardakus personal escort that runs all over nodero, they would find everything but a licensed arm with them.

Maybe Zain wanted to cash in on the rising temperatures in Balochistan and ha been dealt with before hand.

a very good point indeed. That filthy establishment wants to install one of their own men as you pointed out. shazain bugti was asked many times if he was anti pakistan, he replied he would not be sitting in lahore if he was against the state.

we can allow jundullah, many taliban and sectarian groups to run around with the most deadliest of weaponeries, but we had to arrest a bugti who was at least relatively soft towards the state and is a towering figure in that province.

This can really prove to be a big blunder. Lets hope for the best.

One more interesting bit that this whole thing is a show: I never expected to see it on video but watching Kamran Khan's show today I was surprised to find the whole thing was caught on tape and (according to Kamran) shown "live" on Geo and other channels. Note also that this happened at about 5:30 in the morning. Now what are the odds of a full contingent of press (with satellite trucks) being present at a check post in the middle of nowhere at that early hour?

According to Zain, they had stopped him at the checkpost at 4:00 am and were not letting his entourage through so by 5:30 he got frustrated and tried to leave and they arrested him. And I believe Zain when he says they were not carrying all those arms (about one gun each). If they were, I am sure the media would have been shown it right away, not like they did in this huge display that they always set up afterwords.

Notice also that in this later story, the list of items seized has changed:
"The seized arms include unlicensed 43 kalashnikovs, 6 RPG, 2 rocket launchers, 70,000 rounds, 2 RR Guns and several IEDs."
    http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news-newspaper-daily-english-online/Politics/22-Dec-2010/JWPs-Shahzain-Bugti-detained-arms-recovered

And who wold carry guns this big and try going through a checkpost????

It was the right action by Security forces to arrest Shahzain Bugti and recover ammunition, I am sure this heavy arms and ammunition was provided by India and it was being smuggled through Afghanistan.
Bugti family is no less than a gang of terrorists and they must be dealt with harshly and promptly.

bravo...so some of our intellectuals think tht this was a drama...may it be...or may it be to please someone..this is not the point...the point is tht this is the dilemma of our nation tht we make losers hero and... heroes losers...!

even if he is carrying a klashinkov which is without a license we shudnt justify it by sayin tht cz abc has got ammunition in his entourage so xyz can also have it...we all might have our own opinions and we are entitled to publicize it...i have two houses in quetta and the amount of racism and hatred which is being breed in balochistan now is out of anyones imagination.....but it deosnt mean that i would say tht all the balochs are the same...i even condemn shahbaz sharif if cz of his entourage someone cant go to hospital on time and cz of sharmeela farooquis van someone was injured...my point is to disarm everyone and try to mobilize with a minimum entourage and be simple..!!

an excellent point again. But what is their goal?
I think the new guy the establishment wants to bring out wanted shazain removed.

Or justification of another operation by the army to buy time for their taliban friends in north waziristan. Or on a lighter note, it could be that shazain bugti refused some cash to Rehman malik.

I really saddens me to see that people here are always willingly "seduced" by the india-afghan theory.

Law should be the same for all, but how many sindhi waderas who have one of the biggets private armies and jails been arrested so far.

While taliban and jundullah continue their deeds with impunity, nationalist leaders like shazain bugti are taken in custody.

My only fear is that Balochis, again, will become viciously against the pakistani state and target killings might speed up.

"an excellent point again. But what is their goal?"
Being not as 'smart' as @jaypk or @jailer2010 or @shirazi or @sarakhan above, I really don't know. might be as simple a reason as Zain said: To stop his 'long march' to Dera Bugti or as you said (let's hope not) justification of another operation.

"My only fear is that Balochis, again, will become viciously against the pakistani state and target killings might speed up."
Targeted killing never slowed down but in fact is already being carried out at a faster pace and the rate of those going missing has tripled in Balochistan (and under the "free media" and "free judiciary" we just hear about it less.) Here are some of those killed and missing from this month alone (note these are from just one source):

Dec 19: A brutally tortured body near Koshik on Quetta-Taftan road

Dec 18: Two Baloch missing person bullet-riddled bodies recovered in Turbat

BSO Azaad’s Fazal Baloch re-abducted from Mastung

(Getting no response)Dec 17: Relatives of missing people shifting camp to Karachi from Quetta

Swc 16: FC raided Baloch journalist house

Dec 15: Respected journalist Muhammad Khan Sasoligunned down in Balochistan

Dec 13: Shutter down in Gwadar, Ormara against arrest of Baloch student, protest in Karachi

Dec 12: BSO Azaad activists Abdul Qayyum Baloch abducted from Gwadar

Dec 01: Pakistani forces attacked house of a Baloch notable, five Baloch martyred

Dec 01: Mutilated dead body of Waheed Qambarabni found at Raje

"If you see the visuals its broad daylight. Its neither 4 am nor :30 .. at best .. it seems around 8 in the morning."
Ok, let's assume that. Question remains: At how many checkposts do you find a full media contingent at '8:00 am'?? (NONE! Unless they are called there for a special staged event)

Here is an editorial from another Baloch news site (it is has recently been blocked here in Pakistan -- curiouser still because it is run by a Daily Times reporter) that raises some of the points I raised earlier (interesting title btw :) ):
    Editorial: An Imposed Hero

Every day has a new reason why Balochistan must continue to remain unstable. While the assassination attempts on the lives of Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi and Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani still reverberate in our minds, the murders of two Baloch journalists add to our pessimism about a positive change in the state of affairs in the largest province.

In a fresh development which may contribute to chaos and disorder in some parts of Balochistan, the Frontier Corps (FC) arrested the provincial president of Jamori Watan Party (JWP) Shahzain Bugti. The FC says it received information from its “reliable sources” about the jounior Bugti coming from Pak- Afghan border district Chaman with a large quantity of newly purchased weapons hidden in all 12 cars in the convoy. Bugti’s convoy was intercepted at a check post near Baleli in the outskirts of Quetta. The Baloch leader was arrested and detained at FC headquarters.

According to Major General Ubaidullah, the Inspector General of the Frontier Corps (FC), Shahzain refused to allow checking of his van in spite of three-hour long negotiations with him. So far, no case has been registered against the Bugti leader because the officials say are still investigating him and hoping to get more information about ‘hidden weapons’.

Shahzain was quoted by a private news channel saying that the weapons actually belonged to the FC and he was being falsely implicated in the drug smuggling case. According to BBC Urdu Service, he said was innocent and a conspiracy had been plotted against him.

Shahzain has a valid point as common sense suggests that even the worst of all fools will not fill 12 vans with weapons and drive straight on a regular route with every possibility of being stopped, searched and arrested at umpteen of omnipresent check posts in and outside the provincial capital. As the new development was unfolding, the Bugti grandson flaunted ridiculously about his “foreign contacts” by saying he was going to contact the U.S embassy in Islamabad. On the other hand, Shahzain’s father Talal Bugti, who is the central head of the JWP, convened an urgent meeting of the party and condemned the arrest. The JWP meeting also deliberated over the future course of action in the wake of this fresh unanticipated development.

Shahzain is in fact the most overrated Baloch leader in the views of the Pakistani media. While he is a nobody in Balochistan’s complex politics, no other leader has gained so many opportunities of being depicted as a hero. The latest development once again looks like making a hero out of a non-entity in order to give birth to fake heroes to maintain the status quo in the province. A similar attempt was made much earlier by detaining Shahzain in the alleged custody of the Military Intelligence. There was a great fanfare and media hype about his release but the fellow did not emerge as a hero of the Baloch people. Yet again, the Sharifs of the Pakistan Muslim League also arranged a momentous trip to Lahore for father Talal and son Shahzain Bugti to present them as the genuine leaders of Balochistan.

Thelocal media in Lahore extensively covered the father-son yatra with over-excitment. They pretended to snub the fact that Jamori Watan Party was long dead with the demise of late Nawab Bugti while the father-son team had become less popular than Nawabzada Bramdagh Bugti who had reconfigured JWP as the Baloch Republican Party (JWP).

Shahzain’s arrest coincides with the time when he announced to lead a long march of the Bugti internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kashmor to Dera Bugti. The displaced Bugtis, who are a victim of former dictator General Musharraf’s antagonistic policies, have been yearning for a while to return home after six years of unmitigated sufferings. The long march, as announced, is scheduled for January 28th but political pundits see it skeptically because Shahzain had announced such plans on plenty of occasions in the past but never implemented them.

We urge the newly appointed Inspector General of the Frontier Corps (FC) to refrain from becoming a tool in the hands of the Establishment by hatching such ugly dramas on Balochistan’s political scene. Shahzain has a long way to go to become a popular leader of the Baloch masses, a goal he can soley accomplish by his own actions not by that of FC. Pitching him against cousin Bramdagh Bugti or any other Baloch leader is insane and a mere extension of Islamabad’s divide and rule game in Balochistan. Likewise, if such dramas backfire, moderate and pro-Islamabad leaders like Shahzain may also end up joining the separatist block.

    (source)
And I agree -- an ugly drama to raise the stature of a nobody into a 'hero' and pass him off as a 'genuine leader of the Baloch'. And the media and PML-N in cahoots with the establishment to spin this tale...

I found the following story at the same site quite interesting as well:
We Will Retaliate With Tribal Force: Governor Magsi

...“I and Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani had been attacked by assailants adding but the assailants should remember that their such act will push the province to tribal war and anarchy. They will be retaliated with tribal force if they do not stop attacking tribal chieftains and innocent people,” Nawab Magsi said....

Funny that even the Governor has no faith in the state law enforcement agencies and is talking "tribal force" and "tribal wars". And do you think such a governor and CM 'Sardars'/'Nawabs' do not maintain private armies???

Establishing "writ of the state" seems to be a very selective affair...

    Related:
I Know My Attackers: CM Raisani

...He said the attackers should keep in mind that Baloch nawabs and tribal chieftains could chase them, adding they should keep in view that the government and tribal chieftains were not weak and helpless...

P.S. Note the this site too reports a lot of killings and kidnappings that were not reported above. Every local site I visit adds more names...events that are not reported in the national media.

Apologies! (Sorry but I get incensed sometimes when people appear so gullible or see things through a distorted lens)

Well, here is the latest: While it is being reported that
Shahzain and his aides have been sent to jail on a seven-day remand of Shahzain, the facts (at least according to last night's Kamran Khan show) are otherwise.

Kamran Khan tells us that Shahzain is not in jail but at a guest house in Quetta. His aides (all of them) have already been set free. And the charges ALL charges filed against him are meaningless anyways with blunders such as charging him under laws that don't apply or under ordinances that expired long ago. On others, the most he faces is 7 years in or a fine. So like I said earlier, he is NOT going to jail (and he shouldn't as this was a drama set up by the Frontier Corps geniuses).

Of course those vying for more penetration are using this to appear more "Baloch Friendly" and "champions of their rights" e.g.:
Arrest of Shahzain deplorable, says Ch. Nisar, PML(N)
Release Shahzin Bugti: Altaf Hussian, MQM
(Of course they don't give a damn)

It should be remembered that Shahzain is no Brahmdagh. Like I said,he is a nobody as far as 'Baloch struggle' is concerned and is considered a useful idiot by the authorities. Also remember his father Talal Bugti was disowned by Akbar Bugti (Talal's father).

As for Akbar Bugti, there are too many unanswered(?) questions also. Though he is the poster boy for Baloch aspirations these days, let's not forget throughout most of his life, he worked WITH the establishment and AGAINST the Baloch nation. If you like I can give you a bit more history (not the one you find in text books). If one is to look at it honestly, Balochistan was ANNEXED thanks to the underhand dealings of guys like Bugti and Jinnah (yes, that 'holy' cow).

We never learn a lesson, every one is trying to please Zain Bugti, he was caught with load of arms and ammunitions and he is certainly a terrorist.
Unfortunately he is now being treated as a celeberity by Nawaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain and Gillani, these leaders are wrong, they are simply approving the terrorist activities of Bugti and his clans.
Killingsof non-baluch and Pathan will continue and the movement of independent Balochistan will gain more strength.

All this drama is being done to convert zain bugti into a hero of the Baloch nation.

The military establishment is trying to bring zain bugti as an alternative to brahamdagh bugti.

In short, they are trying to make him look like a victim so that this zain bugti (who is a mole planted by the military) becomes a leader of the BALOCH MOVEMENT.
